Permanent Collection's Newly Wed Nearly Dead LP Out http://soundcloud.com/loglady- records/03-one-thousand-sins Originally beginning as the post-Young Prisms solo project of Jason Hendardy in 2011, San Francisco's Permanent Collection sees candy coated pop structures swathed in hazy guitars on the release of their new album Newly Wed Nearly Dead, out on San Francisco's Loglady Records. One part pop, [...]
This is a solid effort that may have functioned better as an EP. Permanent Collection had my attention at the immediate outset of this record. A near-psychedelic swirl of reverb-heavy guitars and almost monotone pop hooks caught me by surprise and the band hit the ground running. Unfortunately, they deploy some of the exact same formulas, barely varying the tempo of Newly Wed Nearly Dead which ultimately turns it from an unexpected delight to somewhat of a dull challenge. Yet, there's little bits of true greatness sprinkled throughout...

Tonight, Wood Shoppe throws its monthly installment at Brick and Mortar with a stacked local garage pop bill: Permanent Collection , Big Drag and Jesus Sons - who is playing their first SF show ( RSVP ). As always, the drink deals will be $3 Trumer Pils and $5 Sailor Jerry's cocktails, no cover for entry, and tonight's DJ sets are from Taylor Fife and Those Darlins . [...]

San Francisco's Permanent Collection bring a toast & embellishment to a past golden age of independent music with their record, Newly Wed Nearly Dead . I'll spare any over-the-topness and point your ears towards "It's Alright" and "One Thousand Sins" . https://twitter.com/permcollec tion
Permanent Collection makes pop music that’s both hazy and energetic. At times, the band's songs can feel like “Like A Daydream,” a smoky shoegaze cover of the Ride song. “Like A Daydream” mirrors Permanent’s Collection’s other stylistic half as well when the frenetic guitar and rhythm kicks in when you don’t expect them. The band's Newly [...]

Here's another one from 'Newly Wed, Nearly Dead', the debut album by Permanent Collection , the new band featuring Jason Hendardy from Young Prisms. It's called 'One Thousand Sins' and I think you'll find it's really rather nice.

Former Young Prisms member Jason Hendardy sure seems to be digging an early 90s vibe at the moment, with new band Permanent Collection and 'It's Alright', a track from new album 'Newly Wed, Nearly Dead', sounding like a mixture of grunge, shoegaze and other forms of vintage alternative rock.
Top releases of the week on our list include the newest from Redd Kross, the debut from Niki and the Dove, plus The Orwells, Bear Mountain, Erik Blood, Ape School and others. Short on details this week - getting ready for Outside Lands Festival this weekend - pre-coverage will be posted tomorrow. Instinct , the full-length debut of Niki and the Dove , now finally available on CD, tops this week's list of new releases. Like fellow Swedish artists The Knife and Lykke Li, the Swedish duo combine '80s synth-pop, dark post-punk and dancy funk on what our Music Director, Don Yates, praises as "well-crafted songs with twinkling, ethereal synths, occasional tribal rhythms and some monster pop hooks." synths, occasional tribal rhythms and some monster pop hooks." Seattle producer/guitarist Erik Blood returns with a titillating concept album about pornography (don't worry, it's still SFW) wrapped in "a varied, atmospheric [...]

Newly Wed Nearly Dead is the downtrodden-but-swinging-up debut album of San Francisco's Permanent Collection, a bright spot of DIY shoegaze. The best tracks moan the grumpiest, like the lyrically unintelligible closer "Too Late," or "Matter ... read more
It's unlikely Newly Wed Nearly Dead will occupy a permanent spot in anyone's collection. "Am I supposed to feel something?" lead vocalist Jason Hendardy asks repeatedly on "Matter at Hand". It's an appropriate question to ask; I was thinking it to myself not long into Newly Wed Nearly Dead. Permanent Collection are shoegazers, or at least that's what the press materials and the album's over-the-top murkiness will tell you. One of the true marvels of the genre, as performed by greats like My Bloody Valentine, is how haziness is...

whirrband : Los Angeles. Now we’re talking. It takes a lot to get me out of the house to watch a band translate their music. I caught Whirr at the PTP Shoegaze Fest and they sounded like a thunder storm of guitars.
