If you follow this site, you've got to know my affinity for really well written indie-pop tunes, so I was pleased to come across Pet Milk through the suggestion of Literature front-man, Nate. Apparently, the Philly group carries with them some members of Brown Recluse (a solid band on Slumberland ), but Adriane's vocals on this recording provided a nice little twist to the band's sound, giving it a hint of warm sexuality. Still, you'll find my favorite musical trademarks like heavy-handed guitar jangles and anxious drumming; [...]

Pictures (of you) - Pet Milk I could never tell which is the My Bloody Valentine cover. I guess it's not this one. It seemed the most likely. Paint A Rainbow ? Yes! Checks out. Early My Bloody Valentine rules. Discovery of things i should have already known done in real time, folks. Pet Milk. Their tape came in the mail for me the other day and i must have played it... three times since then. Yesterday i made a complaint [...]
Cherry outline - Pet Milk Merry Christmas. This is the Christmas song. One of the songs of the year for me, by one of the year's most exciting new bands. And as with the rest of my presents, Rebekah says, i'm still waiting for their tape in the mail. Can't wait (even though i payed though the nose for it).
Philadelphia's Pet Milk , as I've mentioned before and you will soon find out, play fantastic fuzzed-out pop songs you can totally groove on. Despite my love for them I've still yet to see them play, so for me, this video is pretty fantastic. "Cherry Outline" also happens to be my favorite song from their demo EP! I love the harmonies and noisy solo around 2:25. These dudes rule. Their EP I mentioned above is available to download for free! So do that. The EP is also now available on cassette, too, from Philadelphia's [...]

Tonight is a big day for music here in Brooklyn, and even though I haven't had great internet access over the past couple weeks I still need to let you know what is going on! Death By Audio has a killer show happening with two of my favorite up and coming acts. First is Swimsuit , a new band that features the one and only Fred Thomas and friends, making sweet surf pop. Their debut cassette was pressed in an edition of 100 [...]

Pet Milk are fantastic new band from Philadelphia featuring, among others, the lovely Herbie Shellenberger of Brown Recluse! They — like one of my other recent favorites, Weed Hounds — play some highly infectious fuzzed-out pop with a little bit of that boy/girl vocal thing going on from time to time. Their debut demo EP reminds me of everything I love about noisy pop and ultimately leaves me feeling about as excited as I was when I first heard the Pains several years ago. I could listen to records and records of this stuff. I've been dying to see them [...]

Pet Milk come from serveral well know Philadelphia acts like Brown Recluse (of the all knowing Slumberland Records), Paint It Black (of Jade Tree fame), and Pink Coffins . Hearing the Pet Milk demo for the first time was really a surreal experience for me, and specifically "Cherry Outline" the opening track. This song brings together so much of what I love, and from a wide range of the spectrum. I hear bits of things like the Field Mice and Veronica Lake, Piebald (I mean Piebald in their hay day, [...]

I stumbled over this on a mailinglist I am a member of, and fell in love at once. The band I'm talking about is called Pet Milk , and it's a new band from Philadelphia. They share members with other favourites of mine, Brown Recluse and Paint it Black , and describe their music as "Noisy twee pop with ladyvocals. Songs about ex-lovers". It's really, really good. The demo also include a wonderful version of "Paint A Rainbow" by My Bloody Valentine. Do you like it as much as me? [...]
