I am a die-hard fan of vampire flicks. There's something about vampires that I think we all find fascinating and even alluring, so I'm usually ready to tune in for a good yarn about bloodsuckers (even some of questionable quality). The trouble is, the ratio of good:bad is not in the viewer's favor, at all. For every Bram Stoker's Dracula or Shadow of the Vampire or Interview With a Vampire , there's a Dracula 2000 , Van Helsing or Blade Trilogy . In fact, the Blade [...]

MP3 REVIEW We Have Band - West End Girls (Pet Shop Boys Cover) Review: I am still trying to figure out how much/why I like We Have Band. I think I made a gimmick post about them where I called them 'the next Metronomy'. Sort of wish they were around 2 years earlier during the golden age of bloghouse. Most covers are 'kinda dumb' and 'forced', but I think this one is 'chill' and 'well-executed. The song 'West End Girls' is 'good' [...]

Okay, I'll give you this one, Gordon - the headline on the story about the Pet Shop Boys' b-side on the execution of Jean Charles De Menezes is pretty good: Met shock Boys Gordon, you can tell, can't quite bring himself to celebrate the idea that a pop group can release a song complaining about the erosion of civil liberties: The chorus voices fears that liberties are being eroded by measures such as the anti-terror laws that followed the suicide attacks which left 52 people dead and more than 700 injured. We Have Band - West End Girls [Pet Shop Boys]

I still love the Pet Shop Boys. I just can't get enough of their 80s electronica schtick. And speaking of "love", the first single from their positively titled new album Yes is called 'Love Etc.' It's out today, and gives a teaser for the upcoming full album (out the 20th). Pet Shop Boys describe the debut single as "a post-lifestyle anthem which sounds like nothing we’ve done before." Better news is that both Johnny Marr and Owen Pallett are involved. They may be old, but they're never stale. Tracklist: Love etc All over the world Beautiful [...]

Quick post again here, as I'm up to my eyes in Canadian Music Week and SXSW planning and executing. While on break, I checked a couple trusted sites and found these two little pieces of awesome. First off, a Daft Keyboard . Pretty cool, I had a crazy beat going here in the office with 'I', 'K' and 'H'. Thanks Blue Clover for the tip. Also, from Pasta Primavera , check out the Pet Shop [...]
Alcazar 's new album, Disco Defenders , is out now, after some problems with availability. I haven't heard it yet, but you can read a review of it over at Scandipop and listen to short clips from it below. As a reminder for those of you who might usually ignore Alcazar news (what, are you crazy?), "Baby," the seventh track on the album, is written by the Pet Shop Boys . It starts playing at 2:25. If you don't live in Sweden, you can buy [...]

Have you heard of MGMT ? Just kidding...I'm pretty sure everyone has...and some times a little too much. Their track "Kids" has been covered and remixed a bazillion times, but when Pet Shop Boys take their turn, I take notice. They take back to the days and nights of neon lights, neon clothes, and synthesizers galore. It's called the Pet Shop Boys "Synthpop Remix" and by golly that's definitely what it is. Check it: mp3: MGMT - Kids (Pet Shop Boys Synthpop Remix) Related posts: [...]
L'électro ce n'est pas seulement des sons clubbing nerveux et speed. C'est aussi des musiques mélodiques aux sons originaux et/ou envoutants. La preuve cette semaine avec Royksopp et Passion Pit.

Last time I let you guys listen to a Pet Shop Boys song, I was sort of ashamed to see so many people come to me on Twitter ( @pmablog ) and ask who these guys where, or thank me for turning me onto them. Now, I'm glad that I helped you guys discover the Pet Shop Boys, but these guys are really people you should be extremely familiar with. Like I mentioned on my post here , these guys - along with help from New Order and another handful of select classic pop acts - paved the way [...]

Did You See Me Coming?
OK, so most of the British tabloid press isn’t worth wiping your ass on, the likes of The Star and The Sun are, lowest common denominator, often scary, mob mentality rubbish but as far as pure, spiteful, hate filled bile goes, The Daily Mail has to take the prize. What possessed Pet Shop Boys (or rather, their record label) to use The Mail On Sunday to promote their forthcoming album I will never understand. Today's paper contains a free Pet Shop Boys’ CD retrospective which also features a new track form the ‘Yes’ album. [...]

With so much happening in my life recently, my search for interesting and exciting news has kind of taken a back seat. I apologize. With school, work (with lots of overtime) and writing for one food and two music websites, I hardly have even enough time for myself; but alas the light at the end of this tunnel is almost in my reach. OK, enough of my bitching, let’s get our news on. Winter sucks… Cold and miserable weather gives you a desire to do nothing more than hibernate for those long months, praying to have a glimpse [...]
