Myspace gets a lot of hate these days. Deservedly so in most cases. It had it's moment, but now seems to be entirely populated by 14 year girls and bands while everyone else has pissed off to Facebook. It takes a special kind of hate to actually pen and record an entire song about it though. Which is exactly what Pete Green has done. Pete Green makes acoustic pop music. Best of all, he makes music that is actually about something. Whether that something is a hatred [...]
What do you get if you cross people who like indie music with people who like railway trains? A large group of people wearing anoraks and making lists, probably. The Pete Green Corporate Juggernaut has also combined trains with jangle, offering free MP3 of Hey Dr Beeching . Sort-of free, as they/he is asking that you accompany your download with a charity donation to the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway. Which is part of the rail network saved from the Beeching axe. Sort-of saved.

The man in the pic above is Dr Richard Beeching i.e. the fucker responsible for the infamous Beeching Report (what a coincidence that it bore his name!) which led to the closing down of thousands of miles of the UK railway network in the 1960s. He got paid a fortune for it too, by all accounts, wielding his "axe". There's really no justice sometimes. What's that got to do with the price of an open return to Inverness, I don't hear you ask. Well, blog favourites the Pete Green Corporate Juggernaut have only gone and released a single [...]

Just going through the draw, clearing things out and posting the remaining song that have a vague footie + music + Chrimbo connection. Before I add these a reminder of some from this time last year: » Emlyn Hughes and Suzanne Dando - but not in the way you imagine. This one is so sugary and sticky it... well ok maybe like you think. » Half Man Half Biscuit - the official F&M musical team (because without them... not much of this would have been possible) - All they want is [...]

Where I live, on a clear day I can see all three of the highest mountains in southern California. The double-punch storms of a few days ago left all three with a thick cover of snow. It didn't snow at my house this year, but four years ago we woke up the week of Thanksgiving to find a soft, white blanket had fallen during the night. The photo above is from that. Everything IS dead pretty when it snows. Pete Green: Everything's Dead Pretty When It Snows Website and [...]

Phil Jevons ... Those who know footie have heard of him, some of you know of him - and one particular musician who is also a Grimsby fan sung about him. (Quite a spooky image I created there) For the uninitiated: Phil Jevons (a striker) was a product of Everton's youth academy, but he didn't successfully "graduate" to the first team. In the five years he was at the club Jevons only made 8 starts but didn't score once. Eventually he was [...]

Keeping up with the latest releases from your favourite artists can be difficult in these fast-paced, information-laden times, we all know that. So please, allow us to help you keep on top of things, as it were, with this brief round-up of new stuff from a few of our fave tip-top pop types. First up, ex-Monkey Swallows The Universe singer Nat Johnson releases her debut solo single Dirty Rotten Soul on CD and as a download on the 29th of September. It's accompanied by this rather saucy vid, in which our Nat leads a young [...]

Last night we launched our latest release from Pete Green on Lost Music Records at the Spiral Scratch pop show at the Betsy Trotwood. It was a great night with four excellent acts. Here are some photos I took and despite taking advantage of the pub's pretty decent ale they all came out pretty well! You can pre-order the single here . Jam On Bread [...]

Well......we couldn't expect you to last until December without any Indietracks-related gossip now could we? If you're like us and craving some railway-themed fun, but you just can't wait until the Indietracks Christmas event (more information on this to come, kids), then we've got some exciting news which is sure to tickle your fancy! Still bowled over by the hospitality of the lovely Midland Railway staff, those kind-hearted folks over at the Layer of Chips and A Fog of Ideas fanzines have decided to put on an all-day benefit gig for the railway. It will be held [...]

Further to Trev's post about the forthcoming Pete Green single on our very Lost Music Record Label here is a free mp3 taken from the release. Best British Band Supported By Shockwave was the highlight of Pete's set for me when I caught him earlier this year. Pete Green - Best British Band Supported By Shockwave Pre-order the single from here . Pete Green's website [My Space link ]

As regular blog readers will know, we've had a whole host of 'Tracks "experts" reminisce on their favourite experiences from past Indietracks events, including MJ Hibbett, Sam Metcalf of Tasty Fanzine, Kris from Heaven Is Above Your Head, Emma from Pocketbooks and Pete Green. Next up, we hear from avid gig goer and all-round music obsessive Chris Gilmour, who writes the ever popular Last Night From Glasgow Indie Eyespy music blog – a must read for indie-poppers everywhere! Read on to find out why Indietracks 2007 was such a memorable experience for him….. [...]
There's something about indiepop with male/female vocals. I can't quite say why it hits the spot so delightfully but Pocketbooks are a great example of gender-blender tweeness. They are currently Andy, Dan, Emma, Mark and Jonny, having recently undergone a small line-up change (losing early guitarist Ben and gaining drummer Jonny). Pocketbooks' lyrics are eloquent and generally about the everyday rather than the extraordinary, but each song is something special. Having just talked about the joy of male and female vocals together, the track below is just Emma [...]

MP3-Download Pete Green «I haven't got a Myspace because Myspace fucking sucks»
Atomic Beat Records is a new little indie pop label from London Town. They describe the label as thus: Indiepop is what we live for and singles are our idea of perfection. And that's all you need to know about us. They have just released their first two singles this past Monday. The first was Pete Green and Everything I Do Is Gonna Be Sparkly and the other was from the Pocketbooks with Cross The Line . Nat Lady's review of the Pocketbooks single can be [...]
