Peter Bradley Adams , a co-founder of the folksy entourage eastmountainsouth, introduced his sophomore solo album, Leavetaking , on August 5th. With a Masters in composition from the University of Alabama, his classical background clearly comes through in this release, a gentler showing than his band work. A side note to lovers: Peter wrote a song called "So Are You To Me" for his sister's wedding. On his sophomore disc, 'Leavetaking' (release date: August 5, 2008 on Sarathan Records ), Peter Bradley Adams builds upon the cinematic and ethereal sound of his 2006 solo debut 'Gather Up' . The disc was recorded in Nashville and co-produced by Peter and Lex Price. The unusual title and theme of the album is inspired by a line from the Mark Strand poem titled 'The View': "He's always been drawn to the weather of leavetaking." Last night I sat among the large audience at the soldout Mountain Stage show featuring Amos Lee , Sharon Little , Peter Bradley Adams , and The SteelDrivers. NPR's radio concert series once again outdid themselves in selecting talented artists, and some of the performances were astonishingly good. Leavetaking is the fantastic sophomore solo effort from singer-songwriter Peter Bradley Adams and will be released on August 5th. I sought out his album after seeing his name listed as an upcoming performer at Mountain Stage , then I discovered that Adams was formerly a member of Eastmountainsouth !
