![[NXNE] Peter Elkas Live at the Rivoli- June 16th, 2011](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3534437_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Peter Elkas is a handsome, handsome man. Even more so in real life. He certainly has some charm and an almost rock star presence. When he was singing I felt like one of those fan girls who thinks he's singing to me personally. That was a tad too much creepy information but anyways his set kicked off what would be a wonderful showcase for CBC Radio 2. Peter Elkas- Cruel Thing to Do Full gallery after [...]
Here is part 2 of who I shall see at NXNE 2011. This being Thursday June 16, 2011. Things are starting to pick up that night. The lead up to Coachella (see the Coachella Mix) and Record Store Day (extensive RSD mixes with rare songs), meant that we didn't get to all of the Best New Releases for the week of April 12th. In addition to the regularly scheduled releases that week, there were the hundreds of limited edition vinyl releases [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

Niagara is never at a loss for home-grown goodness. Whether it's fruit, wine, or expensive fruity wine in tall, thin bottles, there's an abundance of goodness coming out of the peninsula. For the third year in a row, Niagara's artistic greatness will be on display at In The Soil , a multidisciplinary arts festival that's running this ear from April 27 to May 1. This year, Brock University's Centre for the Arts will host the Top Soil evening on Thursday 28 April, bringing together some of Niagara and Southern Ontario's most [...]

Hey everyone, I think that Peter Elkas might be trying to start a dog band. By my count, the album cover of his brand new Repeat Offender has nine dogs and seven guitars. That's one guitar per dog with two animals left over to play drums and keyboards. I'm suspicious. Go to Exclaim! to read about the album. Here's the horn-laden (I'm trying not to say "horny") single "Cool Thing to Do," which is a romantic soul pop tune that draws on vintage doo-wop and [...]

I've been a fan of Peter Elkas since his 2007 release "Wall Of Fire". He's back four years later with a mostly self-recorded album that Peter worked on in his basement. (I can relate.) He worked with Ian McGettigan and calls the new album "buddy rock". Take a listen below and get ready to put Elkas on your "Laidback Sunday Afternoon" playlist. Repeat Offender comes out on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 on New Scotland Records. Listen: Peter Elkas ∞ Cool Thing To Do What is [...]

If you listened to Canadian indie rock in the '90s you couldn't help but come across Montreal's Local Rabbits. Alas, that band is long gone, but member Peter Elkas is unloading some new music on the public. Elkas will release the album Repeat Offender on February 22nd Take a listen to "Cool Thing To Do" now. Here's the track list for the album: Anticipation Cruel Thing To Do Blue Of You Tiny

Toronto - Ah Joel Plaskett. We here at the Panic Manual have a soft spot in our heart for Mr. Plaskett. So far we've covered three of his live shows ( here , here , and here ). I suppose that makes this number four. He played last Saturday night at the Mod Club, accompanied by fellow singer/songwriter Peter Elkas. It was rainy, it was windy, and yet still people lined up for the opportunity to hear just a tiny abbreviated set of Joel's music. Now that's dedication. "Is [...]

Peter Elkas played a set at Yonge and Dundas Square today. It's nice to see him live. He's very smiley in person. It's contagious. Peter Elkas - Gone It's Gone Peter Elkas - Sweet Nancy Have I mentioned that "Sweet Nancy" is one of the sweetest songs I've ever heard? And it's about a break up? I don't think I'd be able to get upset with a guy that breaks up with me through this song. And that's saying something, isn't it? [...]
I've been waiting for Yonge and Dundas Square's website to list free summer concerts but they haven't been very good at advertising. There are all sorts of speculations about different performances, but the only official listing that has been announced so far that I'm really looking forward to attending is Peter Elkas on Wednesday Sept. 23, 2008 at 12:30pm. See his video for "Sweet Nancy" here: Aww... Love the video, love the song. Peter Elkas, I hope that mermaid comes [...]
I'm honestly torn between thinking that there's no way that longstanding sports journalist turned folksy columnist Bob Hughes wouldn't be up on longstanding sports journalist turned folksy columnist Roy MacGregor, and well, the exact opposite of that. Hughes resigned from his column in my alma mater, the Leader-Post , this week under a light dusting of disgrace. It seems that he cribbed a col from the Globe and Mail 's Bizarro version of Hughes, MacGregor. (Interestingly, the offending column has been locked at the L-P's website.) [...]

Edie has obviously had a lot more time on her hands than I do, considering that she's written the last four posts in a row. I've been doing various activities such school and making life altering decisions. As you may or may not know from my previous posts, I'm still in high school, but more importantly, I'm in my last year of high school. It's crunch time! Within the next two weeks, I'll have to finish and present all of my final projects, complete my post secondary applications which includes a short story, two essays and getting letters [...]
