Photo by Catherine Watkins Got 24 hours to kill? Well, why not spend it with The Flaming Lips as they attempt music history. As previously reported , Wayne Coyne and his band of merry weirdos will try to break Jay-Z's Guinness World Record for Most Concerts in One Day by playing eight shows in eight cities . MTV will be streaming the whole thing online as part of this year's O Music Awards . The Lips will kick things off in Memphis at 7:30pm ET before boarding the good [...]

Phantogram // Photography by Melissa Scheinberg Having already caught Phantogram this summer at Bonnaroo , I came in with the preconceived notion that they would put on a merely solid, danceable show. This time around, though, the duo greatly exceeded my expectations with their experimental-brand of dream pop, sounding like a more bass-driven version of Purity Ring , as well as a cooler, tighter, and more music adept STRFKR . [...]

Governors Ball is about as straightforward as a festival can get: two stages, no overlapping sets, and an even split between electronic music on Saturday and alternative rock on Sunday. For its second installation, Gov. Ball relocated to Randalls Island on the upper end of Manhattan from its namesake outpost at the lower, which didn’t affect much in the way of attendance but unfortunately added more of a commute to the festival’s official afterparties at the Brooklyn Bowl (#firstworldproblems). Other than that, however, there was enough space, water, bathrooms, lawn games, and food trucks to keep fussy New Yorkers [...]

Though we previously said that Phantogram were meant to perform at night, it turns out it doesn't matter when they play, because they'll bring that sultry mystery of the dark regardless of the circumstances. Like The Jezabels , Phantogram's members were dressed entirely in black under the hot sun on the second day of The Governors Ball on NYC's Randall's Island Sunday (Jun. 24). The duo-plus-drummer served up lush synths, surgical percussion and minimalist guitar lines, creating an enveloping sound that [...]
Pre-game for Governor's Ball with our list of artists to watch.

The Hundred In The Hands are a band that sounds much like a subdued Sleigh Bells or a guitar-driven Phantogram . Even the band members are identical: a broody emotional lead female vocalist played by Eleanore Everdell and a quiet, but powerful male lead guitarist played by Jason Friedman. Yes, this dynamic is seen often in the indie music scene, but I'm not bored of it yet. I think there is more to be explored. This sort of dynamic has both the male and female energy on stage and there is so much chemistry possible. For a [...]

![BONNAROO 2012 PHOTOS [FESTIVAL]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4338377_lg.jpg)
After more than a decade of uniting fans of all backgrounds, Bonnaroo sometimes feels less like a music festival and more like a vibrant, thriving city of 80,000 that only springs to life for one weekend every year. The consistently excellent lineups (this year's headliners were Phish , Red Hot Chili Peppers , Radiohead , The Beach Boys , Bon Iver , The Avett Brothers , and The Shins ) are always a major draw, but what keeps people coming back is the overwhelming sense of community and positivity that is unmatched [...]

Bonnaroo 2012 Review Now that I’ve had a week to settle back home and get all the dirt and dust out of my skin, I think it’s an appropiate time to tell you about my recent Bonnaroo experience. Warning: I tried to take photos as best as I could on my Iphone, but they all turned out awful, so no pictures will be posted here. I had been anxiously waiting for the weekend of June 7-10 ever since the incredible lineup had been announced. While I wasn’t a big fan of any [...]

At first, I was upset to be arriving late to the second day of Lollapalooza in 2011. My attitude and mindset were altered instantly as we walked up into the crowd where Phantogram was performing. At the time, I was clueless to what I was being mesmerized by. It is one of those festival moments that I will never forget as I became a Phantogram fan. The focus of their show was music off of their debut album Eyelid Movies . Now, I am going to pay homage to the band and review one of my favorite albums [...]

White Denim was a tough act to follow, but Phantogram did a pretty good job. I expected the band to put on a show sounding just like their most recent full-length, “Eyelid Movies” : filled with dark synths and psychedelic loops, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was not the case, and the only thing reminiscent of their studio sound was the fact that the band was all dressed in black. Phantogram ’s Thursday [...]

Last year was my first Bonnaroo , and I knew as I left the arch still dazed by Explosions in the Sky's performance that I would return for the 2012 installment. And it didn't disappoint. Being a little more well-versed this year in what to bring (water water water water water..and glowsticks) we packed up the car and headed on the 9-hour drive to Tennessee. DJ Kligz made some killer flower crowns for everyone: Thursday, [...]

Here are some tunes that are new to my computer. I quite enjoy a few of them. You might too. Free mp3: Alabama Shakes - Be Mine [...]
Thursday eased fest-goers into an exciting weekend of music, comedy, and cinema at Bonnaroo.
Another year, another Bonnaroo : one long, grueling weekend, filled with lines to write home about, clouds of dust, and the hottest weather you can imagine. That's how it goes every year, right? Actually, this year broke the cycle - and in many ways. Gone were the impossibly long entrance lines of old. This time around, you could get to Manchester on Thursday morning and be inside the gates to set up camp within a half an hour. (The longest wait I personally heard of this year was only three hours, a time that used to be on the [...]

After catching a few songs from Yelawolf and White Denim, I queued up to watch electro-rock duo, Phantogram . When I last caught the band they were opening for The Antlers after having just released their spectactular debut album, Eyelid Movies . It was clear back then the band was posed for bigger things and tour slots with The xx and Flaming Lips and hugely successful EP later, I think they're well on their way to becoming the next big indie stars. For their Bonnaroo set, the band showcased their Nightlife [...]
Phantogram comes to Asheville to showcase their new album Nightlife, and it was definitely some of the best nightlife you could ask for.
This was my first Bonnaroo experience. I seriously doubt it will be my last. Arriving in sweltering heat, with surprising little traffic on the first day of performances. I realized that I'd forgotten to re-stock on sunscreen, so what I'd brought had better last. Nashville was abuzz with thousands of additional out of city/state tourists for the CMA's, something to do everywhere. Honky Tonk's spilling out, not a stark contrast to the oasis of Manchester, Tennessee's grounds where Bonnaroo would be held. Entering the state and meeting Tennesseans for the first time, you're shocked. If you're [...]
