Stepping onto the stage before a crowd that was hardly interested in first opening act, Phil and The Osophers , the members of Bear Hands were comfortable, relaxed and ready to rock out for the entirety of their pre- Les Savy Fav time-slot at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Within minutes of launching into their first song, these Brooklyn rockers had at least half of those in attendance toe-tapping and head-bobbing along to their breed of post-punk experimental indie rock. Alternating between jumpy electro-rock jams and somber [...]

[ source ] The Walkmen - "On the Water" On the water, written in invisible lines, invisible for now, are secret water countries. Ocean, river, and nation lakes that are far older than our mere land states. Immense wars, vast campaigns of espionage and intrigue, gruesome battles, even interminable grudges and millennial stalemates. The countries are not stratified along lines of species, that's a classic human mistake, most ocean states (like Br'fellia, Nochvaleee Kingdom, and The Huv) will have many whales in their fleet, but also hundreds of thousands of jellyfish, a [...]

He just self-released a new album, his fourth, entitled French Tickle . Phil just recently played the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City and finished a small European tour. You'll hear some new music and you might just find yourself a fan... Meet PHIL AND THE OSOPHERS Who are the Osophers? Who [...]
