15-year-old vocal phenom Jasmine van den Bogaerde, who performs under the cutesy stage name Birdy, has been slowly releasing stunning cover videos for about a year now, starting with her take on Bon Iver's "Skinny Love" and following up with "Shelter" by the xx and others on her YouTube channel. While her debut album came out in November in the UK (where Birdy lives), it won't hit American shelves until May 20th. In anticipation of her impending North American invasion, Birdy just dropped a new video of her solo piano take on Phoenix's 2009 hit "1901," treating it as gently and beautifully [...]

Union is OJ and Gold a production duo based in Paris France. Their new record Analogtronics just came out on Fat Beat Records. Union is an intelligent mix of hip-Hop and 70's Jazz Funk. Check out a great track featuring Talib Kweli and Sly Johnson. Nice remix of Phoenix here as well... Time Leak feat. D.L.I.D. , or Dick Laurent Is Dead, is the alias of French producer Jean-Baptiste Casini. Now, as far as I know. Dick Laurent is character from the David Lynch film, Lost Highway . I've never seen it, but that's what my friend tells me. If you are wondering who David Lynch is, the only movie of his you might know would be Mulholland Dr. (released in 2001). None of this is important though. I'm sure Dick Laurent dies in Lost Highway or there is some other weird play on obscure references that explains this wonderful electronic [...]
Filed under: News Glassnote I'm a huge fan of Spotify and tend to be outspoken when technophobes in the music industry make things difficult for companies helping to develop solutions for the broken system. Remember Lars Ulrich 's anti-Napster commercials? He's since learned a thing or two about the web, yet somehow Coldplay still choose money over access . Isn't it a bit ironic that Daughtry was the first [...]

Tweet January has come and gone. In some parts of the world Lana Del Rey 's "Born To Die" has already been released to mixed reviews, nowhere near making as big a splash as was anticipated by some. I've given it a listen, it's fine, but, as I expected, nothing remarkable. In not-LDR-related news, there have been plenty of good releases so far in this past month, with Cloud Nothings , [...]

Metronomy's 3rd release seems distant from the discopop the band first made their name for. Frontman Joseph Mount re-imagines his home town of Totnes in Devon as a sun kissed and hip destination where people come to relax and forget about their troubles. It may be slightly removed from the truth, global warming permitting, but [...]
THE LOVE ME NOTS The Demon and the Devotee Atomic a Go Go It's fantastic to think that somewhere out by Phoenix the sounds of a haunting organ laid over a heavy guitar riffs are spilling out of a garage across the torrid heat of the Arizona desert into the vast night. In reality, this likely isn't true, as the people behind this neo-sixties, Dead Kennedys inspired music, the Love Me Nots, now play to much larger audiences than a few cacti and rock dwelling reptiles. [...]
There's no telling if any of these albums are coming out this year...it's all a massive guess...all for fun. Some of these may come out before Fall...some after...but rumors are flying. Here are the 11 Most Anticipated Albums of Fall 2012: Tool - TBA (Nov.) Stone Roses - TBA (Oct.) Pearl Jam - TBA (Oct.) No Doubt - TBA (Nov.) U2 - TBA (Oct.) Green Day - TBA (Dec.) The xx - TBA (Oct.)

Unless you live under a rock, you know who Birdy is. Her music has been featured in several shows, including the hit show Vampire Diaries . That was the first time I heard her rendition of Bon Iver's, Skinny Lover . Then a few month's later her xx - Shelter cover was featured on the show. Afterward, I could NOT escape the covers and the moody Sophie Mueller translation of the track via the delicious video did not make me forget her at all. [...]
13 1/2 points. That's the official line that the Las Vegas oddsmakers are saying that the Patriots will beat the Broncos with an over/under 50. In other words, odds makers are claiming that it's going to be a high scoring contest with the Patriots handing it to the Broncos. It would be a bad idea to put a small wager if you can on the Broncos to win outright. The odds are heavily not in their favor and that's where they like their chances. Their walls are against the wall and after last week's OT winner [...]

Unfortunately, what was supposed to be HBO's Entourage replacement only lasted two seasons. The dropping of the axe on How To Make It In America didn't come as a surprise to most, as the TV program was mainly famous for starring Kid Cudi. But while the show, which followed two friends (Ben Epstein and Cam Calderon) trying to succeed in New York's competitive fashion scene, was far from perfect, its soundtrack was quite impressive. Today's playlist comprises dance, hip hop, electronic, and indie rock – our way of bidding adieu to the [...]

Bogan Via is a duo out of Phoenix that makes my heart go aflutter. Madeleine Miller's sweet falsetto is sweetly contrasted with Bret Bender's raspy baritone. Their songs heavily rely on the duo's vocals, but their angelic instrumentation also makes me swoon. Also, these words from Bender make it that much sweeter: About four months ago I saw a video of Madeleine singing an original song, emailed her to see if she'd like to meet up for a little jam out, and things have been gangbusters ever since. Gotta [...]

2012 is poised to be one of the greatest years in music in awhile. Why? Well, I'll give you a hint: it isn't because Justin Bieber is set to have an album coming out. In fact, I don't even know whether that's true or not. It's exciting because Phoenix, Spoon, Delta Spirit, Mumford & Sons, P.O.S., Passion Pit, Animal Collective, The Shins, Brother Ali, Dr. Dre, Miike Snow, Lana Del Rey, Andrew Bird, Sleigh Bells , and the xx are poised to release albums. That's not even including all of the new or smaller bands that will [...]

Phoenix is good. We can all agree on that, right? God knows when we're going to get something new from the French indie giants. The Concept 's "Gimee Twice" should tide you over until then. The track screams Phoenix; everything from the bright guitars to the eerily Thomas Mars-esque vocals take a page (or two) from the Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix handbook. Borderline plagiarism? Maybe. But try closing your eyes and tell me you don't dig it. STREAM: The Concept - "Gimee Twice"

Think Foster the People , ANR , Talking Pictures , Phoenix and whatever awesome dynamitronic-pop band that your into now, and throw Midi Matilda in with them, because your about to be bumping these guys 24/7. Side note, no offence to them, but I almost hope I don't hear them in a roadside gas station/DQ in the middle of Indiana any time soon (Foster The People have come a long way in one year). This duo have two badass singles on bandcamp and a sick-nasty video that will keep you going for another month [...]
