Reuse Recycle Remix is a feature where I take remixes that for one reason or another didn't earn their own post or didn't make it on LivingEars Radio. It's been four months since I did this last and this is only a portion of what I had collected for this. I'll likely do another post in a couple of weeks to cover some of the others worth mentioning. Nelly Furtado- Promiscuous (Flying Lotus Remix) LCD Soundsystem- Drunk Girls (Holy Ghost! Remix) Balam Acab- See Birds (Coyote [...]
![[QuickPick] – The MashMaticians – "Lisztomania 2″ (The Cataracs Vs. Phoenix)](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2783813_lg.jpg)
QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that's sent to me that I like, out into the wide web world (or dubya dots). Any time I get sent music that I like I "star" it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it's still as good as it was a day before then it goes up on the site, but sometimes I get backlogged and can't get through writing up pieces for each artist and stay on top of the game, so hopefully this will alleviate some of [...]
When not inspiring Sophia Coppola films, Phoenix continue to tour the hell out of Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix . When not filming music videos/dropping acid for Mountain Dew, Wavves continue to tour the hell out of King of the Beach . This fall, the two outfits will join forces to tour the hell out of their respective studio albums together. In addition to a previously announced October 20th gig at Madison Square Garden (which will also include Dirty Projectors), Phoenix and Wavves will [...]
It has now been nearly a year since we began simmering over the Phoenix -inspired Sofia Coppola film, Somewhere . Since then, the French indie rockers conquered the festival circuit, dominated pop-culture with singles from Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, and singer Thomas Mars' fathered he and Coppola's second child, Cosima. Now, just weeks before the delivery of Somewhere at the Venice Film Festival, Italian Distributors of the film have finally detailed the soundtrack in question. Not surprisingly, Phoenix's "Love Like a Sunset" - the [...]
French duo Jamaica have been getting a lot of attention on the blogosphere of late, not least because of the fact their debut album has been produced by Xavier de Rosnay (one half of Justice). Early single 'I Think I Like U' set out their stall, a breezy electro-pop number that sounded a lot like fellow countrymen Phoenix. The influence of both those acts on debut album No Problem is clear, while the duo integrate classic/soft rock influences into their set up in much the same way that Daft Punk did. However, if all that sounds [...]
Ever since the trailer to Sofia Coppola's Somewhere hit in June, which featured music by her partner Thomas Mars' band Phoenix ( "Love Like a Sunset" ) and poignant use of a Strokes demo by Julian Casablancas (" I'll Try Anything Once "), we've been anxious for the scoop on the rest of the Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning-starring film's soundtrack. Thanks to a tracklist uncovered by the Playlist on the Italian distributors' site , however, the wait is over… Coppola has apparently bookended the soundtrack with the first and second [...]
So it's that time of year again where we surround ourselves with dirty teenagers in a field in Berkshire. Having spent three years at university in Reading, the bank holiday weekend at the end of August is now the only time I return to the place. The O!IW team will be out in force this weekend, here's who we're pretty psyched about... SUMMER CAMP - FRIDAY 15.05-15.35 - FESTIVAL REPUBLIC STAGE Try not to be moved by this video... [...]

Baumira Mix.zip (110mb) Baumira Mix What goes around... Like a boomerang, two lovers came back together—half-expecting everything to be as it was before parting. The other half was fear and trepidation of it ending again. There are a few themes in this mix. One being the "repeating" theme, but also there's a sense of looking back through the Hyperballad series (thus far) with the reoccurrence of artists I had used before, like Feist and Kings of Convenience. Baumira was always a mix that I could never finish and it stayed [...]

I've started narrowing down my fantasy football RB's and QB's. I've brushed up on some sleeper picks and this year, the prize is MINE! I've been playing copious amounts of Madden 11 on the PS3 and football season is around the bend. My hunger for football at this point is so bad that I've actually been watching pre-season football. I've only had one favorite football team all of my life. I've been a Broncos fan since I was five. That's not changing, however, Shanahan coaching with the Redskins has pushed me to go out on a limb [...]
In preparation for next year's 20th anniversary, Lollapalooza 2010 offered a fantastic display of artists both new and old. Taylor DeBoer was there and recaps the highlights, even if these nine well-known artists were just the tip of the iceberg during the festival. From everyone I have spoken to, the consensus seems to be that Lollapalooza is getting better each year. Summer 2011 in Chicago should be a damn good time.

With all the Furthur fans cleared out for Day Two, Outside Lands became noticeably younger and way more crowded. This is largely due to amount of refreshingly original line-up that covered the stages that day. With 2010 buzz acts The Soft Pack, Janelle Monae , and Mayer Hawthorne as well as indie-rock heroes Phoenix, Empire of the Sun , and Kings of Leon ; Day Two was shaping our to be very impressive. Not to mention the legendary Al Green , who seemed to draw the biggest crowd that day. [...]

The closing of the second day of Outside Lands 2010 brought us a whole lot of awesomeness. Not only did we get to see three killer bands, but the sun also made an appearance for the first time all weekend. Enjoying the weather, and the shows, here's a glimpse of our last day out in the park! -- Phoenix It's no secret that we here at HAD are totally in love with the boys in Phoenix [...]
It's a good day for BOTR (Best of the Remix). Why not. If you'd like to check out past volumes just click here . mp3 : Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone (Tom Molloy Remix) I received an advance copy of Calvin Harris' debut album awhile back and I didn't really like anything on it. This beat heavy remix goes a long way to salvaging my mental image of him. mp3 : Chris Brown Annie Designer Drugs - Kiss Anthonio (White Panda Remix) I'm not sure what [...]

After several years of anticipation, Chicago's much loved orch-pop sextet, Canasta , has finally released their second album, The Fakeout, The Tease and The Breather . But listeners should be thanking their stars that the band took their time on this album. Filled with detailed orchestration, plenty of emotion, and carefully planned harmonies, this album speaks to the layers of orchestration that Canasta can produce. Canasta came to immediate light and sent critics swooning after releasing their debut album, We Were Set Up , in [...]

If you recall I spoke about Moxie Black nearly three weeks ago and all I could do was gush. The crazy thing was that I was gushing after only hearing a few of their songs, but when they sent me the entire album it floored me. The whole thing, from front to back is a stormer. I can't remember where I said it, but I labeled it as "the best party album of the year" and it really is. I'm not gonna say a whole lot about it here since I already said a bunch [...]

The following article was submitted by Monica Mitevski: Closing off day two of Lollapalooza at the north end was my fav French group Phoenix . Picture a large mass of hot, sweaty people dancing like there's no tomorrow, and a group of frat fucks that are uncomfortably close to you gyrating all up on your ass. This is pretty much what it was like during Phoenix's headlining show at Lollapalooza. In the past year Phoenix have increased their fan base here [...]

The last time I saw Phoenix , over a year ago, they were garnering a ton of attention for their just released LP Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix . They've always had modest success throughout their career but it was clear early on that this LP was going to special - I just wasn't aware how special it would be. In every essence of the word, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix was a game-changer for the group; an album where they hit their stride, produced numerous singles licensed from car commercials to chick flicks, and even won a Grammy [...]
I love music festivals. I try to go to as many as I can possibly go to, as should you all. This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the Outside Lands music festival in San Francisco. The festival, headlined by The Strokes and Kings of Leon, was held in Golden Gate Park. San Francisco seems to be a pretty lax city in general and this festival was definitely of that vibe. The five stages, three big and two smaller ones, were placed on all ends of the woods-y landscape. If you follow [...]
