Unfortunately, what was supposed to be HBOs Entourage replacement only lasted two seasons. The dropping of the axe on How To Make It In America didnt come as a surprise to most, as the TV program was mainly famous for starring Kid Cudi. Bogan Via is a duo out of Phoenix that makes my heart go aflutter. Madeleine Miller's sweet falsetto is sweetly contrasted with Bret Bender's raspy baritone. Their songs heavily rely on the duo's vocals, but their angelic instrumentation also makes me swoon. Phoenix is good. We can all agree on that, right? God knows when we're going to get something new from the French indie giants. The Concept 's "Gimee Twice" should tide you over until then. The track screams Phoenix; everything from the bright guitars to the eerily Thomas Mars-esque vocals take a page (or two) from the Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix handbook. Borderline plagiarism? Maybe.
