The foot-shuffling, sun-ravished 'Friend Crush ' gets a spiritual awaking: waves of reverb-heavy guitars are replaced by empty spaces; a focused song structure makes way for electronic dominance. Brooklyn-via-Texas project Phone Tag was one of the scene compatriots Friends name-checked in their BTW piece, which was a kind plug while also being another illustration of the universal law that friends tend toward phone tag. Here the two hook up on a remix of Friends' excellent lead single "Friend Crush," wherein Phone Tag eliminate the things that separate the two (the ESG), retain the things they share (tropical warmth), and dress up "Crush" in their preferred mode: synthetic dance music.
