It's time once again for a Monthly Mix episode of our weekly podcast. These eight songs are all from new or recently released albums by some great Bay Area bands. About all of the bands: San Francisco indie-pop band Photons ("Animals") recently released an excellent self-titled debut album. Photons has recently released their debut EP featuring six tracks of energized lo-fi pop that remind me somewhat of the Decemberists. There are interesting CD release parties on both sides of the Bay this Friday night. Over in Berkeley, The New Trust ( Feature Podcast ) celebrate the release of their third album Get Vulnerable at 924 Gilman . The trio's heavy melodic rock draws from the intensity of 90s indie/emo to create compact anthem-bombs that fit well with Josh Staples' politically-minded narratives. The show starts at 8pm and also features Build Us Airplanes , Cannons And Clouds , Spires and The Americas . [...]
