DATELINE: FEATURED ARTISTS in BOSTON - What to do? What to do? If you are going out tonight and you're in Boston this is definitely one hot possibility. Check them out at the Paradise . Even if you don't make it out - both artists are worth checking out. They come recommended from RSL. The Pierces are two sister-sirens with remarkable, beautiful voices. Their songs are uplifting, haunting, enchanting and enticing. What isn't clear is whether they are singing on stage or a figment of [...]
I'm a bit behind on the Gossip Girl series here on TWF, but I'm catching up. Although yesterday's episode was the twelfth {that word is honestly spelled weird} this is only volume ten in the series. So as a little refresher the tenth episode was the one containing the debutante ball and all the other things that only the uber rich do. I could rehash the predictability of the episode or I could just point you at one of my favorite websites of all time. That would be Television Without Pity {or as they [...]
Ok. Fancy clothes, check. Cab, check. Free drinks, check. Blizzard, check. Stolen cab, check. Snowballs, check. Deck of cards and texas hold 'em, check. Tequila shots and beer chasers, check. Massive hangover, check. Am I missing anything? My skin is moving on its' own and there is a sound coming from deep inside that I believe is my liver saying "OW BITCH! WHY THE FUCK YOU DRINK ALL THAT TEQUILA?" My three wishes right now would be: head not explode, skin stop wiggling, and caffeine magically find own way into system. [...]
We are totally not above our guilty pleasures, and because of that fact, we bring you this: The Pierces . If you know anything about these girls it's probably that they are sisters, they are from Alabama, they are love love loved by fashion mags and they were just on Wednesday's "Gossip Girl" episode. But what you may not now is that these two sisters in harmony are totally good at mixing the avant with the pop, the populist with the highbrow, the trashy with the chic. Serious business is what these girls are [...]

The Pierces remind me of Tatu , that two girl group from Russia . The one that radiates sex appeal, in that manufactured pop kind of way. I guess The Pierces are sisters, Catherine and Allison . Their album " Thirteen Tales Of Love And Revenge " is a nice batch of pop songs with naughty lyrics about sex, drugs and rock and roll. Listen: The Pierces ~ Secret The Pierces ~ [...]
J-Girl and I carved pumpkins. Guess which one's mine: We dressed up our dogs Ringo and Savannah (for ~ 5 minutes). Yes, we're that cruel: And in the music world... The Pierces just released a brand-new Halloween themed video for "Sticks and Stones". It's pretty cool (thanks to reader Doug for the tip): [...]
The Pierces : they're swank, they've got style, and they're sisters . Hot, hot sisters. Oh, and also, they sing some of the catchiest songs this side of the Atlantic. While they're rather best known for their charming single Boring , I'm much more of a jaunty tune woman myself. See the following songs for reference, then check out those wondrous (read: hot) sisters at their MySpace . The Pierces - Lies The Pierces - Sticks and Stones

I usually run in the other direction when I hear the word "folk" associated with a band. But I changed my mind after I heard one song from The Pierces . The Alabama-born sisters released Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge on Lizard King Records a few months ago, and I have no idea why it hasn't gotten more attention – aside from a crush of press surrounding the album release. Disclaimer to all dudes reading this: This CD is not [...]
Image: Threadless Decided to compile a mix for The Sunday Shuffle right after my last post since I won't have internet access till Monday night. Hopefully this will tide all of you over until then, plus these are easy to make since the tracks are just randomly chosen. If everything goes as planned, this should post itself on it's own. Never tried it before, but hope you all enjoy and i'll see you next week! The Radio Dept. | "It's Personal" [...]
"The car didn't actually explode. There were a few pops and bangs which presumably was the petrol." Ah, watching the British determinedly shrug their shoulders at yet another terrorist attack (I feel I must remind my American readers that we did have the IRA making a nuisance of themselves for a while and they were quite [...]

Catherine and Allison Pierce are going to hate their little introduction to the loyal perusers of Toadery. Apparently it infuriates them that every review starts with 'I was determined not to like these girls' and that their looks get mentioned all the time. Hahahahahaa! Fuck right off! Song, by Toad knows a pair of saucy little strumpets when it sees them and there is no way that anyone responsible for the riot of pouting and posing that is the video to Boring can possibly complain about being objectified. Honestly, I have [...]
Another Thursday Graboid once again, but I couldn't help it too much as there were what would seem like an insurmountable amount of albums to go through. I gave fair warning last week, but really no one should be surprised about what has come out this week. When you look at these releases, there's just a little something for everyone's tastes so hopefully you find something you like out of here. I'm also pretty sure I didn't include many of other releases, so if you see one here that didn't make than please feel free to suggest it here. [...]
What were you all doing in 1979? I know that some, indeed, many of you probably weren't born. I imagine that others would be running around dressed in nappies and looking for a feed from a nipple (but what you did, and do, in the privacy of your own home is no business of mine). 1979 was a momentous year in my life. I was 16 years of age and I had passed a whole bundle of exams that would let me

Lizard King Records US, the new branch of the UK label which signed The Killers in 2004 and smartly broke them in the UK first, is launching a roster of new acts here in the States. The Pierces (sisters Catherine and Allison) will be the first out of the gate for Lizard King Records US. The ladies recently completed a jaunt in Europe opening for Albert Hammond, Jr., on part of his time away from The Strokes. The Pierces upcoming record Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge [...]

The Pierces are sisters Catherine and Allison, who, having already made the journey from their birthplace of Alabama to New York City, are now off to support Albert Hammond, Jr. on his tour of the UK. Their debut album, Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge , will be released in February of '07 on Lizard King Records . Based on the very pretty, haunting, late-'60s/early-'70s-evoking song below, I'm looking forward to hearing it. [...]
