Bloc Party have started working on new material and will reconvene in September, guitarist Russell Lissack has said. The guitarist recently finished his stint playing live with Ash. Now he has confirmed to NME that he has met up with Bloc Party front-man again and that they have further plans to meet as a band this autumn. "Kele and I started working on Bloc Party stuff together and separately," he said .He added: "We're having a bit of a break until the festivals are over, because people have commitments during the summer, but we're going to get back [...]
Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack's side project Pin Me Down is putting out a version of "Curious" from their debut LP remixed by Co-Pilots (a side-side project of Russell Lissack - how handy!). It'll be out on Monday 11th October, but you can grab a download below, and you can admire the bellydancing prowess of [...]

"Please hang up and try again". So says the familiar telephone operator sampled on not one but two of the tracks on Kele Okereke's long-promised solo debut. If that line sums up Okereke's aims here, the title he has chosen - The Boxer - can be seen as reflective of the methods used to try to achieve them, underlining the depth of his separation from Bloc Party. No longer playing a team sport, on these songs our man rechristens himself more bluntly as "Kele" and strikes out more or less alone, using his greater star power [...]
So it is pretty awkward enough when you have a sex dream about someone you know. You can't look them in the eye, you have a feeling that you have technically seen them naked, because you're a very lucid dreamer and you have to stop yourself from casually mentioning it in conversation. Well, what do [...]

Words: Gareth O’Malley Very, very interesting Bloc Party -related things have been happening over the last few months. With the quartet officially on hiatus, the band (well, three of them) have embarked on various solo ventures: Kele Okereke ’s solo debut is due in June and Gordon Moakes has Young Legionnaire going on with former I Was A Cub Scout drumming powerhouse William Bowerman and ex- yourcodenameis:milo (and current The Automatic ) frontman Paul Mullen . Guitarist Russell Lissack ’s bit on [...]

Check out some awesome new music from Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack. The side project is called Pin Me Down with singer/songwriter/guitarist Milena Mepris describing it as meshing influences from the 80s with a futuristic soundscape, Pin Me Down make dance music for rock kids, or “apocalyptic pop”. Lissack has definitely integrated Bloc Party-esque guitars, which feature prominently on the track 'Time Crisis' . The album is set for release on the 19th of April with a pre-release available via there website now. Be sure to check out their myspace site to [...]

Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive Guitarist Russell Lissack isn't taking it easy while his London four-piece Bloc Party take a break. Along with New York-based vocalist Milena Mipres, the floppy-haired axeman has been polishing off the 10 or 11 tracks the duo handpicked -- from around 50 -- for their debut album under the moniker Pin Me Down , an album they hope to drop by this summer. "The two songs that we've put out so far are quite representative of our [...]
Listed as bi-coastal - and we presume not that type of "bi-coastal" that leads to "bi-coastal curious" and then eventually just settling on the coast you wanted to begin with - Pin Me Down are truly a hybrid of the prevailing stereotypes of New York and London. On, "Time Crisis," breathless, full-sprint, electro-house meets with post-punk, arena guitars, all around the ethos of fist-making,

Happy Friday! It's been quite a hectic week of shows and continuing the move the site over to our own server ( http://tlc-blog.com ) but the great music doesn't stop pouring in. Check out a few of my favorites from over the course of the week below. Bloc Party's Russell Lissack and female vocalist Melina Mepris make up the electro-pop outfit Pin Me Down . mp3: Pin Me Down - Time Crisis [ alt ] Finally a decent remix of the The Xx , [...]

These are all quite good songs that we've listened to a few times this week. They are all available as free downloads. Great. It feels like every blog in the world has blogged about this version of Hollywood and how the wonderful and infamous Gonzales, you know Gonzales, he’s simply wonderful, kooky and crazy, you know Gonza, GtotheONZALES? EVERYONE ON EVERY BLOG KNOWS WHO GONZALES IS, PURLEASE don’t tell me that YOU DON’T. Anyway, by now it’s a free download so if you liked it why not download [...]
It seems like the thing to do these days is to take a break from your rock band to work on an electronica-tinged side project. Everyone has done it from Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij and Glassjaw's Daryl Palumbo to heavyweights like Julian Casablancas and Thom Yorke. This year, reports Spinner , the trend continues with the debut album of Pin Me Down , the project of Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack and Brooklyn singer/songwriter Milena Meprin, formerly of Black Moustache. The project came about by Meprin and Lissack emailing and phoning ideas back and [...]

This here new crusher of a tune called "Time Crisis" is the second track from Bloc Party's Russell Lissack and vocalist Milena Mepris . Russell's side project is called Pin Me Down and he's coming with some pop flair while Bloc Party are on hiatus. Time Crisis - Pin Me Down via NME Daily Download
We all love Bloc Party, it's a fact. I don't know someone who doesn't love them. They're just ... loveable! So when anyone from Bloc Party releases some music, it's obvious that we'd all want to hear it. Pin Me Down is a 2 person band consisting of singer Milena Mepris, and the guitarist of Bloc Party, Russell Lissack (that's the one that looks most emo, if you don't know them by name). They aren't the best band in the world, but I like them. They're funky and the background music is great, the singing is [...]

I admit I like Buffetlibre ... since I first discovered them on the intercube, I dig their large vision in the dance music scene. But as much as this is about them, this isn't really all about them at all... It's about that little part of your innards that wants to wear parachute pants and a rat tail to the roller rink where you will have your heart broken for the first time, and possibly second, third, and fourth too... yep. This is all about the 80's. Rewind is a Buffetlibre project that is nothing less than [...]
