We respect the work that Spin Magazine does. We respect the good, hardworking journalism that's created in-depth features and profiles, which add to the greater lexicon of music criticism. Plus, they're one of the few that are still around! However, in a move that we find giggle-worthy and that is bound to stir up a storm of annoyed music geeks, the magazine has buried deep into the annals of history and unearthed the truths behind music's greatest myths. The list of 16 ranges from the near blasphemous (Myth: Radiohead can do [...]

Filed under: News Rock 'n' roll and spirited libations have always gone hand in hand. A new enterprise, Wines That Rock , wants to take things to a new level by creating quality wines named after legendary rock albums. Even better, the company -- created by business and fan club managers of bands like the Rolling Stones , David Bowie , Sting and U2 -- will place original album art on the wine labels. The first three products will be [...]

Filed under: News , Exclusive Pink Floyd 's classic double-record 'The Wall' has not only been a staple of rock but has also been a part of pop culture trivia, as founding drummer Nick Mason learned. "There's a [quiz show] program here [in Britain] called 'University Challenge,'" he tells Spinner. "Just by chance they happened to ask these students to name the song and the guitar player. I'm sad to say they failed. They didn't seem to know either Pink Floyd, David Gilmour or 'Comfortably Numb.'" [...]

Whether it be dismissing fellow band members, writing a semi-autobiographical [...]
This week's Baker's Dozen highlights 13 albums from the 1970s that often go unmentioned when discussing the best music from the decade.

Filed under: News , New Music Hole fans, rejoice. Courtney Love has not only resurrected her '90s band's name for her new album 'Nobody's Daughter,' she's actually going to release it. Rolling Stone confirms that Hole's first record since 1998's 'Celebrity Skin' is set for a January release and explores a varying degree of topics that one might expect from Love: greed, vengeance and feminism. Apparently, the sound draws from David Bowie 's 'Diamond Dogs,' "the good side of Pink Floyd 's 'The [...]

While My Morning Jacket continue their extended hiatus, they did manage an animated reunion. The Southern Rockers will be featured prominently in an upcoming episode of Fox's American Dad entitled My Morning Straightjacket, where lead character Stan Smith becomes a groupie. The show's co-creator got the idea during MMJ's now legendary performance at Bonnaroo '08 and has gone on to dub them "American Dad's official band." The episode will air Sunday, Nov. 22 at 9:30PM ET and will feature six songs from The Jacket, which will [...]

Initially I thought I'd compile a bright playlist of songs about the sun to help combat the blahs that's sure to inflict many of us this fall and winter. But, as I started plucking tracks from my collection, I discovered that a majority of the songs avoid using the sun as a symbol of positivity, or of they do, it's to bemoan the lack of it. So much for trying to cheer you up!

The title of the new Flaming Lips album, Embryonic, refers to how most of the songs were recorded during the very early stages of their creation. The result is an album which sounds completely foreign to what the band has been releasing since 1999's The Soft Bulletin .
