Το υπέροχο Lost in the Pancakes είναι από το σχήμα του κημπορντίστα των Olivia Tremor Control που ονομάζει Pipes You See, Pipes You Don't κλεμένο από κάποιο παιδικό βιβλίο. Έχει κι άλλα ε δω . Ο frontman των πολύ αγαπητών μου Polyphonic Spree έχει καινούργιο πρότζεκτ και το ονομάζει Preteen [...]

It sounds like the Beatles piano-driven tracks, and is that ever a bad thing? I don't quite know the correct phrase for members of the '90s indie group, the Olivia Tremor Control: best of friends, or incestual? Even when the group took some time off in 2000, they all continued to play on each other's projects (Circulatory System, the Instruments, the late BP Helium). However, Peter Erchick's Pipes You See, Pipes You Don't is without a doubt the most accessible, paying homage to the more-piano driven tracks in the...

Olivia Tremor Control's keyboardist, Peter Erchick, has been around for a while, having put out his first solo record (Individualized Shirts) under the name Pipes You See, Pipes You Don't all the way back in 2001. Since then he's been fairly elusive, with only a 2003 release keeping his name about. Now he's back with a new album, the oddly-titled 'Lost In The Pancakes', and what a startling comeback it is. Highlight track 'The Train In The Station', with its cheery piano and vocals, is reminiscent of The Beatles at their poppiest. Other stand-out songs include [...]
Here are a few songs from some of better albums released this week: The Express – "Nobody Knows" (mp3) from The Express. Gardens & Villa – "Black Hills" (mp3) from Gardens & Villa. Gardens & Villa – "Star Fire Power" (mp3) from Gardens & Villa. Memory Tapes – "Wait in the Dark" (mp3) from Player Piano. Memory Tapes – "Today Is Our Life" (mp3) from Player Piano. Pipes You See, Pipes You Don't – "The Train in the Station" (mp3) from Lost in the Pancakes. After the jump, there is also a list of [...]
April was a busy and thoroughly enjoyable month in music. It's easy to point out that big names dominated most of it, some of them even brand names in indie music; Panda Bear, TV on the Radio, and Fleet Foxes are as close as you can get to that. I try to avoid featuring artists [...]
Like many Elephant 6 acts, the solo project of Olivia Tremor Control keyboardist Peter Erchick has a mysterious enigma that is propelled by not only a nostalgic psych-pop sound, but also by the infrequency of his releases. His output - under the name Pipes You See, Pipes You Don't - first appeared with a full-length, [...]

Some pipes you see/ Some pipes you don't. And the solo recording project of Pete Erchick from The Olivia Tremor Control has gone largely unheard, which is a shame. Pete joined the Olivias between that band's two albums, and sang lead vocals on the track "I Have Been Floated" (with Neutral Milk Hotel 's Jeff Mangum taking one verse) on Black Foliage . In 2001, with the band on hiatus, Pete--already a member of the new Olivia off-shoot [...]
