![[Mp3] Corey Pallon: “Lilting” ;](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2876199_lg.jpg)
Earlier this summer, Corey Pallon of Pistolero and What Happened To Your Fire, Tiger? digitally released a solo record titled Born In A Shadow , a kaleidoscope of psychedelic jams that demonstrates much more imagination than is typical of the singer/songwriter approach. Although Pallon 's sound is firmly rooted in traditional rock 'n' roll, he employs enough twists and quirks to his aesthetic that it manages to feel fresh and engaging. Here's the opening track: Corey Pallon : "Lilting" [...]

"What is the sound of somebody scraping the underbelly of a jumbo jet" is how Ethan Stein(RIP) from Captn' Video, WRSU's Overnight Sensations and his New Brunswick NJ band Leather Studded Diaphram(LSD) once described The Jesus and Mary Chain to me and I've been quoting him ever since because he was so damn right. More on him later but he was always good for long music chats till his unfortunate self destruction. This one goes out to you my friend. This is, from I can tell, the first jesus and [...]

Welcome to another edition of my Friday Mixtape. After weeks of late postings, screwed up links, and errors that cause posts to disappear (last week), I'm hoping that this week's mixtape goes up as scheduled, without any hitches. If, in fact, you're reading this on Friday- I've suceeded. While I've been relatively unimpressed with the mixtapes this year so far, I'm well pleased with this one. There 's the track from AG Silver that was sent this week, and I'm totally diggin' on. There's also an awesome new colab between Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman and Nickel Creek guitarist [...]

Mastodon Mastodon 's newest record, Crack The Skye , still doesn't have an official release date yet, but many sources say it looks to hit stores late March. The band will be revealing the artwork for the new album on Monday, so it is definitely coming soon. Brann Dailor talks about the theme of the album : There is a paraplegic and the only way that he can go anywhere is if he astral travels. He goes out of his body, into outer space and a bit like [...]
Ah, back to the old bloggy mcblog blog... Tonight I recommend checking out The Poison Arrows, Nomen Novum , and Lay Down Mains at The Earl. I have been listening to Lay Down Mains ' new album, Mama, Go Rest On High , and it is pretty good. There is nothing really out of the ordinary on it, just a nice collection of hard rocking songs. They sort of remind me of a less focused and jammier Liverhearts . [...]
