Back when I was just a wee boy (||), I remember making an extremely bold statement to my mom. John Hughes serious, I said that when I turned 16, if I were to have the option, my comic-encrusted rationale would've chose the staggering six-player X-Men arcade game over my very own car. Completely unattainable at the time, this Marvelous door-frame destroyer was always the one thing I wanted more than anything. Now, almost two decades after seeing that dream become a red '96 GMC Jimmy, there's a new crown jewel sitting atop [...]

60 bucks for a pizza. Yep. That's how much Cowboy's owner Jerry Jones is charging to get your marinara and cheese swerve on at the recently finished 1 billion dollar stadium. I figured that surely for 60 bones the pizza would have to be special, like it was served by both of Herschel Walker's personalities . Nope. There are cheese, pepperoni, chicken and artichoke, meat and margherita options. If I'm going to pony up that kind of "dough," for that kind of "dough," here's what would have to happen. [...]
Castanets (Brooklyn, NY) [MP3] Castanets - Three Months Paid (From In The Vines ) [JAX PICK] Castanets , Warmer Milks @ Spaceland - Castanets have a wonderful new album entitled Texas Rose, The Thaw, and The Beasts coming out on Asthmatic Kitty on September 22nd. [JAX PICK] [...]
The pink-polo shirted Regan Farquhar commanded the stage, spouting rhymes I didn't even try to keep up with while his heroic sidekick, Anti MC, calmly manipulated a swath of drum pads and synth sounds, an electric guitar and pedals without breaking a sweat. I was having a hard time keeping my cool 'cause a pair of teenage lesbians were getting' freaky right in front of the stage, grabbing each others' crotches and grind dancing. Oh, how happy I am to see the '90s coming back!

needless to say the sidewalks were slightly crowded

I was offered the chance to see Amadou & Miriam open for Coldplay tomorrow night. While the former rank among my favorite blind Malian husband and wife duos ever (just below the Blind Boys of Bamako, just ahead of the Timbuktu Two-Steppers), I'll be heading to Beach Dazed instead. Partially, because I don't think I can handle the emetic sororo-crowds that clot for Coldplay, partially because I am a sucker for any place that promises performances from Voxtrot, Busdriver, RJD2, Korean BBQ, Slip-N-Slides, and free ice cream. I am a simple man . I wrote a preview for [...]
Sean Carnage has done so much for L.A. music that there had to be a movie made to help document it. He'll be celebrating four years of DIY shows (across six venues!) all this month at Women during his traditional Monday night residencies, and he'll have the official Sean Carnage birthdayversary spectacular on July 27. This interview by Drew Denny.

Katy Perry is an interesting soul, isn't she? Katy took to her Twitter , and invited us to join her while she sat nude in the bathtub. Who eats pizza in the bath,.. really? Hey... are you following Allie on Twitter yet? Hat Tip - Paul with Gone Hollywood

Originally gifted at somacow.com You know, it's Father's Day and even though the guys don't talk about being dads until hour 3, I'm taking over the blog today. The guys do talk about our ice skating trip , paper towels and toilet paper, pizza, buying things from door-to-door salespeople, twitter games, SomaCow t-shirts , Other Peoples' Podcasts , and more food. But I'm writing this for Geoff so it's all up to me. You know, buying things for [...]

Q.G, is a French producer from Toulouse. His name is fast becoming associated with killer remixes, productions and do sets. After many years in rock bands, he started to produce at the end of 06'. Last month, he spent most of his time remixing some European artists such as Midnight Art, Clarky Cat, Beatbouncers and The Phonograph; to name a few…. With intense shows around Europe, Q.G. made a Euro tour in Poland, Portugal, Spain, and France. More recently, Q.G. has put out a remix of Data's "Rapture", which immediately conjured up [...]

pocahaunted @ ms bea's - sxsw '09 I'd like to thank some of my favorite Los Angeles locals - Vibes, Pocahaunted, Pizza!, and Magic Lantern - for delivering one of the greatest shows that I've had the honor of witnessing and luckily being a part of. GQ food writer Alan Richman travelled more than 20,000 miles across America, stopping at 109 pizzerias, eating 386 different pizzas to compile his list of the 25 Best Pizzas in America . He also ranks the 10 best cities in America to eat pizza, which includes the likes of New York, Detroit (huh, what?), San Francisco, Chicago and New Haven. Glad to see both Providence and Boston make the list. Pizza is a difficult food to pin down; yes, it's essentially dough, sauce, cheese and toppings. But in those scant ingredients the pizza is different from location [...]

Originally posted at SomaCow.com In this hour, brought to you by HealingRoni Pizza Delivery, I came to a startling realization. I had just kicked a key member of my show off, and it wasn't J! I was struck with the situation, namely, I had just sent Ross packing, he was already out the door, and I knew I had made a mistake. One of my greatest failings (there are many, stick around and try to make a list sometime) is that [...]

Is it any surprise that during a recession people get more crafty to make ends meet? A local pizza parlor in the bronx was recently taken down by the feds for trying to kill two birds with one stone by taking orders for both pizza pies and cocaine. Once the orders were made, the cocaine would be hid inside the same box as the pizza and delivered to the customer. Thats pretty slick, but people always end up getting ratted on when they try to do things in this manner. I remember my homie used to go to [...]
