The band's seventh LP, Loud Like Love, arrives this autumn…

The Internet is a strange, strange place. As we noted yesterday, Gerard Way penned an epic letter about My Chemical Romance's breakup, but in certain corners of the web, fans are flat-out refusing to believe it, and expressing their disappointment in the most quintessentially MCR way — by penning fanfiction wherein the band continues to exist forever! The world of MCR fanfic is a strange, hilarious place, but it's by no means home to the weirdest fanfic you'll find out there. And so, to celebrate the, um, devotion of a certain breed of music fans, here's a selection [...]
Organized chronologically, Once More With Feeling provides both the casual and dedicated fan Placebo's preeminent hits in one setting. Placebo formed in London in 1994 and, for the most part, the band's popularity has resided there. Placebo's trio of musicians -- Brian Molko (vocals and guitar), Stefan Olsdal (bass), and Steve Hewitt (drums) -- have, stylistically throughout the band's career, leaned towards glam and (being a product of the mid-'90s) alternative rock. Between 1994 and 2004, the band released four studio albums: Placebo, Without You I'm Nothing, Black Market Music and Sleeping With Ghosts....
In the final track, "Time is Money", somewhere between the lines "Time is happy ever after" and "Jesus / Jesus / Jesus / take the wheel" my eyes rolled back so far in my head that I could see the inside of my ears and noticed that they were no longer paying attention. "Back in the 90's there was this one-hit-wonder. Some song -- something about a morning? And there was this guy -- or maybe it was a girl -- jumping off the roof of a building. What was that? I really liked it." So goes the verbal [...]
We're super excited about the return of Suede, both because their new single "Barriers" is really great and because, honestly, we're hoping for some sort of glam re-revival in the year to come — surely it's time for the return of bands whose ambitions extend beyond bedroom laptoptronica and/or determinedly anonymous we-just-do-what-we-do-and-poss ibly-have-beards indie? Hey, David Bowie's surprise album announcement certainly can't hurt the possibility of a glitter resurgence, either! While we wait, we've been digging out our old Suede CDs and also exhuming other examples of glam rock from after the genre's mid-'70s golden age. Here are some of [...]

This is the last batch of releases until the new year (though one or two on the list below may not be out until next week), so we hope it will keep you happy until then! Despite being a rather short list, there's some great gems in there! Foot Village 's "Make Memories" (pictured) is probably what we're most excited about (even if this is only the digital version of the record this time around). There's also a bunch of Placebo reissues and a posthumous compilation of Jay Reatard . Check out the full list, and [...]
We do still read the NME , god help us, and as such we were interested to see this feature about dodgy demos of classic songs on their website a couple of days back. Setting aside the question of whether anything ever recorded by Muse can ever be considered a "classic" (spoiler: no), the piece did get us thinking about early demos from our favorite musicians, especially in light of the recent reissue of Interpol's Turn on the Bright Lights , which comes with a bunch of studio outtakes and other rarities. [...]
Placebo were alt-rock dynamos in the late '90s and early 'oos. Who doesn’t remember the aerial shot of Ryan Phillipe calmly driving his Jaguar Roadster down a New York highway, set to the chilling “Every Me And Every You”, in the opening scene of 1999’s Cruel Intentions? Lead singer Brian Molko commanded a nasal voice that’s androgynous and a little scary, and almost entirely singular. With 2009’s Battle for the Sun, though, the band seemed to lose something essential. Longtime fans called it their worst album, and Molko, who was arguably emo before [...]
Weekly Playlist 86 features Jake Bugg, Gui Boratto, Alt-J(∆), Cub Scouts, Placebo, Tame Impala, Foals and Kindness. Jake Bugg - Two Fingers wow. Can't get this out of my head. It's so refreshing to hear someone channel Bob Dylan/Oasis/John Lennon nowadays, exuding typical British winging - in this case on the topic of teenage rebellion. It may just be the beginning for this 18 year old Brit. RG Gui Boratto - Beautiful Life An old track that a mate let loose on me in Europe. Layers layers layers. [...]

Placebo, the London alt-rock trio who are rounding up on 20 years as a group, dropped an EP last week foreshadowing their forthcoming full-fledged 7th studio album next year. Titled B3, the EP is intended to give fans an enticing nibble at what's still to come. Tried and true Placebo fans won't be disappointed, as it's evident even on a first-listen of the 5-song collection that the band hasn't abandoned their moody, awkwardly-futuristic-yet-grung e-inspired core sound. They've merely injected it with rolling drums, and switching intervals of mellow then pummeling riffs. Most notable is the lead vocalist [...]
Taking a 251 sex break from work and transporting meself back to the mid-90s as the PLACEBO unleash their new video, B3 .
Sit back and let Placebo transport you back to the 90's with their new track titled "B3" taken from a forthcoming EP of the same name. Check out the dark and dingy video up above but the EP is available now digitally via Universal Music but it's not going to be released physically until November 13th. The band are planning to release a new album, their seventh, some time in 2013 but this will do as a nice little taste of what's to come from the legendary band.
The post Placebo weet je te vinden appeared first on Apply Some Pressure .
