Plajia is a Montreal based, ambient rock band, with diverse influences such as: folk, 60's and 70's music, space rock, Motown, contemporary pop music, progressive and classic rock. At the risk of sounding ignorant or stupid, I can't for the life of me figure out how to promounce their name. Play-jee-a? Plah-hee-a? Anyway, I'm liking the song "Dummy." It's got a light feeling to it and it's got a great beat. Check out some of the other tracks below. Dummy Beautiful Explosion Beating [...]

Plajia is an English-singing band from Montreal. Either way English/French speaking, Montreal has been THE place in Canada in producing arguably one of the best bands around the world. If only Toronto could only match up. I have no idea about the origins of the name Plajia (I think it's pronounced pla-ja) Plajia identifies themselves as acoustic/ambient. Genre picking aside (they don't matter) Plajia has a diverse sound for me ranging from pop to simple acoustic. Patrick Pleau has a pretty good voice and if you check out his myspace on the song "Sleeping" [...]

Norwegian artist Grande is about to release his debut album Uppers, downers, screamers & howlers . Heavy guitars with a softening voice in Rhythms of sin and a touch of eighties in We did it all make it worthwile to give him a listen. You can listen to more songs on his website or check his MySpace . Enjoy : Rhythms [...]

Here's a band from Montreal that sent me some of their songs. As I listen, a small smile stretches across my face, because I hear a twinge of the 90s, which I have been saying is about to explode back onto the scene for about two years now. I love it when I'm right. But, I also have boobs, making that a blatant fact. Plajia 's got this rock power chord thing going on in their song "Dummy," but it's still boasting a light and airy feel to it that makes it easy on the [...]
Just before you run for the hills at the start of 'I Am A Musician' for fear of an assault of the Bon Jovi's be warned that staying out of ear shot would be a loss to the side of your brain that craves free form rock gems. Because that's the sort of blaze of glory (!) that this song from Montreal's Plajia is. Patrick Pleau supplies the knee weakeningly graceful vocals while a tornedo of noise

I jumped up, danced a little, sat back down. Thats how Plans & Apologies starts off. Its pop you are allowed to listen to and still be cool. Its so aesthetically pleasing and structured, all while still being just a smidgen of so many genres. Its been compared to Dinosaur Jr. amoungst other similar rarities, but all I knows is its fun, light-hearted music. Their new album/EP "Wirez, Man" is a beautiful (although short at 23 minutes) collection of music. The first song, [...]
