The Planes are an Indie Rock outfit from the south coast of England, and after successfully releasing their first professional EP, ‘On Demand’, back in January, the lads are now keen on furthering their development as a band. Comprising of identical twins, Chris and Mike Smith, along with Sam Wardle and Ollie Shaw, the band are set to follow up their EP with a string of gigs and new songs to add the their already weighty backlog of material. Since starting out in early 2011, the band have shared the stage with the likes of Dodgy, The Frank and Walters, [...]

Spiky, angular guitars jump out at you from the the very first seconds, and Narrow Angles , the debut EP from Carlisle's finest Birds Vs Planes, bursts in to life and sets a pace and tone that never really gives up across the whole record. It's been something of a long time coming for the band, who have been around in some form since 2006, but it's certainly been time well spent; Narrow Angles is an assured, confident and often sparkling debut release and we're very pleased to offer you a full [...]

Dane Cook has been tapped to voice the lead character Dusty, a plane with high hopes in “Disney’s Planes.” Inspired by the world of “Cars” and directed by Disneytoon Studios veteran and aviation enthusiast Klay Hall (“King of the Hill,” “The Simpsons”), “Disney’s Planes” is an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure about Dusty’s dream of competing as a high-flying air racer—and his decidedly unfortunate fear of heights. The film takes off in theaters in 3D on Aug. 9, 2013 The all-new story offers an exciting cast of characters and centers on Dusty’s high-flying dream. But Dusty’s not exactly [...]

by Fred Pessaro // BBV Vomitor @ Public Assembly, 12/10/2012 Australian black-thrash crew Vomitor concluded a string of East Coast/Midwest dates in NYC last night at Public Assembly (12/10), joined by tourmates Negative Plane with Salo and Ominous Resurrection . As expected, the Aussies ripped through a set of unholy thrash, snarling their way through close to an hour of rippers before calling it a night by the stroke of 1AM. [...]
howdy! one of my favorite records from last year mount moriah's self title debut was re-released via merge yesterday. in fact it came in at number 6 last year, and still listen to it quite often. its so damn good, and am psyched they signed to merge and apparently should have a follow up sometime in 2013. no reason not to pick it up in my little brain. buy it via merge . The post mount moriah "plane" official video appeared first on Captains Dead .

We've been big fans Carlisle five-piece of Birds Vs Plans for a long while here at GFP , so we were most excited to lay our eyes upon this live studio track recorded in Diapason Recording Studio in Rome, while the band were there busily working away on their forthcoming EP. We Get To Drop is the first taster from said EP and, if it's swirling mix of urgent guitars and mesmeric vocals are anything to go by, then we're in for a very special treat indeed. Check it out below... [...]
![[Beat Tape] Martin $ky: Planes](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4255967_lg.jpg)
Less than a week after dropping his debut mixtape, Crown Me Cold , Martin $ky hits us with a new instrumental mixtape, Plane$. Here the young producer/emcee tries to show his production chops, and welcomes collaboration with other emcees. Download the tape and put down raps!

The Planes is an indie-pop band from New York in the USA. Jeff Patlingrao , Sacha Chernoff , Stephen Perry and Gavin Dunaway produce a lo-fi sounding take to the world of upbeat indie music. The Planes I am given to mind of Cherry pickers whilst listening to The Planes . I feel the need to rationalise that thought - The high boom lifted in to the sky whilst a summer-breeze gently whisks through the platform. There is a feeling of bright-space that [...]

I posted Professor Penguin 's single back in December , the single 'Pilot' was great and now they're got there album! Released yesterday it's filled with lots of indie-electronic and I can't get enough of it. You can stream the full album on Soundcloud and buy it here. Professor Penguin are the newest band out of London that I have my eye on. They have just announced that they will release their debut album 'Planes' on April 9th and you can check out the 'Pirate' single/video below. Their sound is a nice resemblance to when I first heard Keane, gives me the same type of feeling, as it is more of a lower key sound that is heavy on getting the vocals and lyrics to stand out. When listening to Professor Penguin's songs such as 'Pilot' and 'Pirate' you can see the talent the band has and [...]
Oh internet. Sometimes you get up to some japes, don't you? Norwegian Airlines are running a ballot where the public can vote on which famous Norwegian they'd like to see painted on the tail fin of one of the airline's jumbo jets . And the internet, collectively possessing what is in effect the psyche of 14 year-old boy, has managed to get the murdered former Mayhem gutiarist, Øystein Aarseth (aka Euronymous) into the number two spot in the poll. Although it's unlikely that Aarseth will win the poll , [...]
London nine-piece Professor Penguin are gearing up for the release of debut album Planes on April 9 and have made a video for the slow-building 'Pirate', which I wrote about here. Like the song itself, the video is quite subtle and simple, with shots of the singer interspersed with the [Read more]

Last year we had a wonderful new London-based nine-piece called Professor Penguin play a hell of a set for us. Now those Penguins are about to release their debut album 'Planes' on April 9th, and their new single 'Pirate' is also out today for free from www.professorpenguin.com They've been picking up loads of great support from BBC Radio 1, 6Music, XFM and The Fly, and come with a hefty 'stamp of approval' from us. Here's their new video for 'Pirate' that gives a [...]
After being introduced here in November, Professor Penguin return with a new track under their arms. Anyone disappointed with the Maccabees' move to a bigger sound should enjoy 'Pirate'. Clocking in at under three minutes, it's a slow-building track which escalates to an epic crescendo. It's a gentle track that [Read more]

If London-based six-to-eleven-piece Professor Penguin 's sole aim is to woo all listeners into a calming state of bliss, they've achieved that and more on the three-minute-long slice of indie-folk-tronica heaven that is their debut single "Pilot". "This is your first call and the start of your life/ As you reach into the clouds/ As you take off in flight," sings Jonny Abraham, and while we have no idea what he's going on about (Childbirth? A parent sending their teen off to college? Something to do with Amelia Earhart?), what we are pretty sure of is [...]
London indie (sm)art/pop upstarts Professor Penguin have had their new charmingly askew single (and free download ) "Pilot" described by none other than Brian Eno as "such a beautiful piece" and, upon listening, who could disagree? What began as the vehicle for singer and songwriter Jonny Abraham has been expanded into a sophisticated outfit (complete with colorful horn shadings) that wanders confidently through odd jazz timings, squiggly-to-droning electronics, jangly melodies akimbo and Abraham's distinctive, matter-of-fact vocal style. We can't help but think of Charlie Fink's Noah and the Whale (yes, a good thing) [...]
