This retro-themed video for The End of That is just plain awesome. Off of the album of the same name, Plants and Animals make a kitschy video that seems like something more befitting of Tom Jones. Plants and Animals is Warren C. Spicer, Nic Basque, and Matthew Woodley. The End of That (the album) is the Montreal trio's third album. It's out now via Secret City and it's definitely something that you want to check out if you like indie rock. The End of That (the song) is a taste of what [...]

If you're anything like us here at HAD, then not only do you love Plants and Animals , but you've been seriously digging on their new record The End Of That . Not only is it some of the best songwriting the band's ever done, but it takes them in a whole new direction that is more centered on classic rock and roll, dueling guitars, and lyrical witticism. It is a record that is imminently replayable, but also ideally suited to the live environ. Given that, as New Yorkers we couldn't be more excited that [...]

Lots of DIY feel to the videos this week, from Being There's 'never too late to learn' clip to the light touches in Lucy Michelle & The Velvet Lapelles deceptively simple cut. But top place this week goes to Plants and Animals for the grin upon grin inducing showmanship of "The End of That". It's [...]

Canadian band Plants and Animals came to Kung Fu Necktie to perform both old and new songs in support of their record The End of That . This Canadian troupe could be described as a cross between Ray LaMontagne and The Killers . Lead vocalist Nicolas Basque not only sings, he plays guitar, bass, keyboards. He has a lot to do on stage, but he does so effortlessly. Plants and Animals are just a solid rock band. They've been performing together for over 10 years and [...]
Plants and Animals ::: All Photos by Brittney Bush-Bollay I had one of those prolonged "Suburban Dad" moments before I entered the Crocodile. I did a decent parallel parking job on the streets of Belltown. My car wouldn't have been hit if I had just left it be. However, something extremely neurotic took place in [...]

Words // Lily Linquata Now into the tail end of their 2012 North American tour with This is The Kit – one which included a showing at the hugely cool SXSW in Austin, TX – Montreal based Plants and Animals played TT The Bear's Place on April 4 th . While Plants and Animals seems to have a concentrated, almost cultish following in the US, to say that their fan base is more opinionated than [...]
Filed under: News , Video , New Music , New Releases Youtube Plants and Animals ' " The End of That " video is a hilarious slice of forgotten '70s nostalgia. The vintage-themed clip features the devastatingly handsome frontman Warren Spicer as he sings on live television. With perfectly curled locks, pancake makeup skin and dazzling mutton chops, the singer is a dead ringer for Engelbert Humperdink . [...]
Plants and Animals - "The End of That" . Rupert could remember when he wrote "The End of That", sitting in the basement at about 11 o'clock pm, on the night Joe and Thom called to say they were going to The Swallow, going there again, the fourth night straight, the night after Rupert bumped into Claire on the street and she was with a girlfriend and he hadn't seen her in forever, and it was her that recognized him first; she said, "Rod!" and he stopped zipping up his jacket and he blinked and then he saw who it [...]

Plants and Animals have released a new video for the title track from their latest album, The End of That . Shot with almost no budget using 35-year-old tube cameras, the video has a retro look that was inspired by Englebert Humperdinck singing "Quando, Quando, Quando" on his show, The Englebert Humperdinck Show . The band says the song is "a late-night confessional, a catch up with an old friend over a beer. We went for the straight line in this song, musically and lyrically, as much as we ever have. [...]
You'd think after Nirvana's "In Bloom" and The Strokes' "Last Nite" that the band-performing-on-a-retro-TV- show format would be rightly retired for music videos. But, then, Plants and Animals would release their charming, slightly sleazy and delightfully cheesy version, and you'd be wrong. And maybe, like me, glad you were.

The Best New Music of 2012 Someone You Should Know One of the Best Records Released to-date in 2012 "With a more mature, self-effacing nature but with a keen eye on remaining playful and light, the songs from The End of That (on Secret City ) both punctuate through underscore and bounce. [...]
