The show "Fridays" was a shameless rip-off perpetuated by ABC in the early 80's to capture the audience demo of NBC's "Saturday Nite Live". It might be best known for being the launching pad of "Seinfeld's" Larry David and Michael Richards. Also notable was a totally surreal stint by Andy Kaufman where Kaufman "breaks character" and a fistfight took place ( later revealed to be a ruse ). However, I remember it as being a great source of live performances from some of my favorite bands. The Clash, The Jam and The Plasmatics [...]

With Beavis and Butthead back on the air after nearly a decade-and-a-half hiatus, I thought I'd take a moment to offer my belated thanks to these two badly-drawn boys for turning me on to a couple of bands that otherwise would have escaped my attention. Even before MTV got out of the music video business, Beavis and Butthead were airing videos that would never have gotten any airplay via mainstream channels. Presumably channeling Mike Judge's musical tastes, Beavis and Butthead provided US viewers with the first glimpses of several well-below-the-radar bands including the Dead Milkmen, the Cramps, Daisy [...]
Want to keep the posting flow up. So I'll make it easy with a classic from a known band that's still a bit underrated I think. The debut opens up with the first version of Butcher Baby... Punk | Powerpop | Mod | Hard Core

plus equals We got these trees that are growing wild and drop huge caches of leaves into our pool. Which sucks. It also kills the sunlite in our backyard. Which also sucks. Soooo, I got the rickety wood ladder out and my sawzall and decided to take down some of the bigger branches. This was going along pretty well, I was lightly buzzed and made sure everything was plugged in correctly. I couldn't quite reach the highest [...]

I was looking through some second hand vinyl recently and came across this. I think it might be to greatest album cover of all time. It shows an image of the future where tanks are readily available and you can stand up to the government while still looking cool. No unsightly backpacks or balaclavas for these revolutionaries. Sleeves no longer seem popular on men's jackets - the quick survey I've just done based on this picture tells us that 75% of men in the future will remove the arms of the outdoorwear. Presumably the heat given off by all the [...]
For Aggronautix's latest Throbblehead, Wendy O. Williams is effectively shown as an aggressive miniaturized punk rocker. Wendy O. Williams - Punk rock - Games - Video Games - Sports

In the annals of punkdom, deluxe reissues, illustrated biographies, and Hollywood biopics have their place, but you know you've really made your mark when you're immortalized as a Throbblehead. The Aggronautix company has been turning out their punked-up variation on the bobblehead doll since 1986. Some of the punk heroes who have been given the Throbblehead treatment thus far include G.G. Allin, Tesco Vee of the Meatmen, Milo of The Descendents, and Joe "Shithead" Keithley of D.O.A. Well, the punk boys' club has been crashed at last, and who better to do it than Wendy O. Williams [...]

Filed under: Twisted Tales Her initials said it all: WOW. With in-your-face songs like 'Butcher Baby' and 'Living Dead,' Wendy O. Williams was the self-proclaimed 'Mistress of Taboo.' Her band the Plasmatics got off on blowing up cars and driving them off cliffs and piers. She helped bring the Mohawk to middle America. Often dressed in nothing more than shaving cream and a bikini bottom, she was once noted as a "style star" in People magazine. "Rock 'n' roll has teeth," she once said. "It will scratch your face off." [...]
Filed under: News , Video It's impossible as all heck to try to pin down Tortoise 's sound, so just what the heck do the guys in the band listen to for fun? Bassist Doug McCombs and drummer John Herndon were caught shopping at Amoeba Records lately and bared the contents of their shopping bags for Amoeba's film crew. Interestingly, both band members separately purchased the vinyl edition of Earthless' 'Live at Roadburn.' "I bought this live record because they were on my mind, because we're playing a show with [...]
