Maybe we're not in-tune enough with the Mediterranean music scene, and it's rare that we hear from bands stationed in Greece, but if this Plastic Flowers release tells us anything, it's that we need to start listening harder. The song is "Populists" and it comes from a recently released four-track EP from the band, and with it's lilting swaths of pastel-colored sound, it feels dreamy and shiny and heartbreaking all at once. The sweetness of the song is drenched in a sun...
Plastic Flowers is a dream pop duo formed in January 2011 and consists of George and Angel. Their ever growing love for ambient music led to composing and home-recording, using guitars, synthesizers, cheap drum machines and found objects. "Dead Promises":... READ MORE

I have this recurring dream where I walk into a record shop and go over to their 7-inch singles section and discover 20 brand new records that I had never heard of. Each of them is lovingly designed with eye catching sleeves. I gaze at the display and each one is like glistening piece of candy that the pop kid in me cannot ignore and must have. Resistance is futile. Restraint and logic flies out the door and I grab all of them. I dig in and each one I pick up I cannot put down. Eventually my arms are overflowing with records [...]

Greek duo Plastic Flowers rolled out their new EP Aftermath earlier this week; a beautifully sombre four track record out on Manic Pop! Records. Lead track ‘Dead Promises’ comes tied to these luscious, earthy visuals, which marry suitably with the ambient, ghostly nature of Plastic Flowers’ music. As with all their output, G. Samaras and Anjel Paschalidis have channelled a tangible feeling of escapism into ‘Dead Promises’. Soft almost feminine vocals wash over delicately picked guitar notes and clockwork whirrs of percussion; leading us through ethereal soundscapes previously inhabited by [...]
The PLASTIC FLOWERS new video DEAD PROMISES reminds me that I'll be seeing the POSTAL SERVICE live in nodnoL town laters this month. Fans of one shall appreciate the other, and the new video from this Belgian synth-popping duo that was shot in a forest near Athens town that I may visit upon my next return to homeland.

If there's one aspect of the internet's role in promoting music that we tend to overlook, it's the metaphorical flattening of the land, making it far easier for any musician, anywhere in the world to have their music heard. Sure, there's no denying the fact that it's still more difficult for an act from Central Africa to gain a following than it is for an act from Central London, but the scales are slowly becoming less and less biased. Greek duo Plastic Flowers are a true testament to this, having only been together for [...]

The lovely Vandana Jain just premiered the video for "Men With Sticks" on PaperMag , off her EP Vandamner . The video, directed by Brooklyn-based fashion photographer and director Bon Duke , films Vandana being pulled, pushed, and hugged by a cult of men in shredded paper costumes. Check out the delightfully weird music video below: Click here to view the embedded video. Vandana Jain plays Glasslands on January 15th with Plastic Flowers / Faith & [...]

With only two EPs and a few singles to their name, Greek duo Plastic Flowers have already gathered quite a loyal internet following, and with tracks like In You I'm Lost it's not hard to tell why. Raw and unbearably honest, their imagery may tick all the boxes for stereotypical hipster buzz band, but that's irrelevant when the music is as good as this. This clip, recorded by senselens is a beautiful home-shot rendition of new track In You I'm Lost , a numbing and remorseful ballad that ends far too soon. Check [...]

This delicate little number comes from a Greek duo called Plastic Flowers . It was already released as a single on Bad Panda a few weeks ago but somehow only turned up in my inbox today. So now I'm probably going to lie somewhere cosy for the next couple hours and stick this on repeat. Grab a free download below:
