Field Music is, in some way, true to their name, meticulously crafting songs that have a openness to them, as if they write without a proverbial creative roof over their heads, never allowing the confines of their genre to stifle their sound. A lot of it has to do with the airy vocals of the Brewis brothers, which are delivered with the same sort of energy that fellow englishmen, Jof Owen, of The Boy Least Likely To brings to a track. "A New Town" has a bounce and chug to it that some of Field Music's art-pop sometimes lacks, and [...]

In just a few more weeks, siblings Peter and David Brewis, aka Field Music, will release their new album Plumb through Memphis Industries on February 14th. We previously let you hear "(I Keep Thinking About) A New Thing", but now you can download the new single "A New Town" below. Read more »
One of my favorite acts over the last few years has been Field Music , as well as the various bands that have been spawned from the group like The Week That Was . They always have a way of manipulating their musical work, and often play with the vocal registry in order to create intense rhythmic emotions. As me near closer to the release of their latest album, Plumb , more songs are coming out our way, and this one just hit today (via RS ). It's [...]

Well 2012 is certainly promising to get off to a cracking start is it not? Following yesterday's news of a brand new Errors album due in January, comes word of a new record by Wearside's finest; Field Music. The duo's fourth studio album, entitled Plumb, is due to be released through Memphis Industries on the 13th February. The album was recorded over the course of 2011 at the band's new studio on the banks of the river Wear in Sunderland and comprises 15 new songs (full track-listing below). [...]

I was wondering what Field Music were up to. Well, here's the latest. The art-rocking Brits will drop the follow-up record to 20102s Measure , with Plumb , which will arrive on February 14 ( Memphis Industries ). The effort was recorded by Field Music brothers David and Peter Brewis in their studio and below is "(I Keep Thinking About) A New Thing", the album closer. Field Music is back with their fourth album, Plumb , and judging off their first released track, "(I Keep Thinking About) A New Thing", the bass will be heavy throughout, the vocals bitting, and synths wandering about. The band says about Plumb : " It largely abandons the 'classic' songwriting conventions embraced on their 2010 double album Measure and instead remodels the modular, fragmented style of the first two [...]

Field Music Field Music - Sunderland siblings David and Peter Brewis - made one of our favourite albums of 2010 with Field Music (Measure) , and the duo are lining up a return for next year. They'll release their fourth album Plumb on Memphis Industries on February 13 2012 in the UK, and a day later in the US. Recorded over the last year, it is apparently a return to the succinct, fragmentary songwriting of their first two records after Field Music (Measure) 's broader approach. As a preview, [...]
It's not all that ghoulish, but a compelling set of songs from a variety of contributors nonetheless, including Silversun Pickups, Sky Ferreira, Gorillaz and Smashing Pumpkins.
And no - this doesn't mean bumsex. It means the people 'at it' in the video are shown having sex in reverse. Tearing each other's clothes on etc. But it's a camera trick, not something for the Daily Mail to have an aneurism over. As if Robyn wasn't struggling with the mainstream enough, releasing a new video full of people having actual sex (please note: these are actors having pretend sex) is not going to help matters. More eye catching still, some of these people having sex are girls having sex with other girls. A fantasy [...]
Despite the backlash against the wave of vampire TV series and movies in the form of the recent and just as awful film Vampires Suck (not to mention the horrible things you can find by searching "Edward Twilight" in Google), lest you forget that while the releases themselves may be lacking (except True Blood ; Team Eric 4 life), their soundtracks are spot on (or pretty close ). That trend continues with the release for the CW's The Vampire Diaries . While we know almost nothing of the show and [...]

I have this recurring dream. In it, I am clinging to a rock face, hundreds of feet up, and completely paralyzed. I've done a little abseiling in my time, but going down is easy. It's hauling oneself up, inch by inch, that presents the challenge. It's not so much that I'm afraid of heights, really. I've taken helicopter rides, and been on big dippers, and things like that. What terrifies me, I believe, is the concept of being so close to life-ending disaster; the idea that one slip, one misjudgment, a moment of weakness, might send me plummeting to my [...]

I've already posted most of the songs that should have ended up on this list in the Finals Week Playlist Highlights post from the other day… so the list below is kind of like the "second" Top 5 list of the week. No matter. It's all kick ass music because I have kick ass taste. Hmmm… that doesn't make me look too good because I sound like I taste like "kick ass," and it's never good to taste like ANY ass. So moving on from ass, here's This Week's Top 5 Most Played Songs From Swap's iTunes. [...]

The past couple of weeks have been pretty intense for me. It's been one test after another… and to make matters worse, I haven't been as focused as I should have been. I have no excuse for this except that I've hit the books pretty hard for the past year and I guess I started to ease up a bit too soon. I'll admit that I didn't finish quite as strongly as I wanted to, but I don't expect my grades to take a hit because of this. I don't know about you, but whenever I study, I listen [...]

It's Friday, which can only mean ONE thing… it's not Thursday anymore!!!!! Well, it can also mean that tomorrow is Saturday, or that the day before yesterday was Wednesday… So now to make this even MORE anti-climactiv, here's This Week's Top 5 Most Played Songs From Swap's iTunes! I've been a fan of Plumb since a friend of mine introduced me to her music way back in college. Plumb actually the stage name for singer/songwriter Tiffany Arbuckle Lee. She's released five studio albums, and has had her songs featured in a number of television and movie soundtracks [...]

Look…this is going to be awkward. I know we don't know each other, but I'm writing to talk about last night and what you did to me. See, usually when I drop $500 on a va-jay-jay related expense, which I never have, that should mean at least five nights of nookie…maybe more. BUT INSTEAD I coughed up half-a-G to remove YOUR BLOODY MAXI PADS FROM OUR CLOGGED ASS PLUMBING LAST NIGHT! You know how we're livin Ms. V? There ain't no sitcom handyman coming over to fix this shit. No sir. Just me, Treez, a string, a [...]
