One of my favorite ways to discover new music is to go to a concert venue website and start clicking on the acts I don't know. That's how I landed at Plumerai who also happens to be a local band that formed in 2004. The song "Spinning Landscapes" is a dizzying number amplified by the emotive violin that contrasts nicely with the rest of the rock band. Meanwhile, lead singer Elizabeth Ezell's sultry vocals--similar to those of Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner-- guide you through the vertigo on this track. When she sings [...]

Plumerai and The Brother Kite will be celebrating the release of a limited edition split 73 on Clairecords on Monday at the Middle East Upstairs. They will joined by another of the Foundwaves Weekly Picks , LA's Letting Up Despite Great Faults , making for quite a stacked bill for a Monday night. Plumerai's epic single "Strike" begins with a solitary guitar line wet with delay. One by one other elements are added: an eerie distant wash of synthesizer, a light ringing hi-hat, somber bass notes, and finally [...]
"Because you like Coldplay." OK, we kid, we kid. Kind of. Chris Martin gets a big chuckle out of the Filligar video. Coldplay takes a lot of heat for being such a harmless band (and that might be their biggest fault) but for all their wonk, it's pretty cool that they are allowing WFNX (alt-radio station here in Boston) choose their opening act . I mean, we could really *screw* them, right? Here are the bands up for the opening slot [...]

plumerai illuminata 2007 (française version) Je me souviens. Estocade [...]
Space/Love/Robots are from Tallahassee, Florida and give us fuzzy, reverbed filled melodies, just the way I like my Shoegaze. mp3 Space Girl Love Burst The Place Promised Beyond The Clouds is also from Tallahassee and is a project of one creating textural Shoegaze goodness via guitar and effect boxes. Pretty trippy stuff for a band of one. mp3 Cold Air The Snowdonnas are from Ft. Worth Texas and this is not the first time I have [...]
