Polock's Getting Down From the Trees was an overlooked gem. I featured their song "Fireworks" a couple times, but this new video for "Sometimes" affords me a great opportunity to highlight the group again. Check it out for some Phoenix-y goodness.
Watch the video for Polock 's "Sometimes" , taken from their debut album, "Getting Down From The Trees" . It's been almost two years since Spanish band Polock dropped their first album, "Getting Down From The Trees" , but, apparently, they're still promoting it, as the video for album highlight "Sometimes" has just dropped. The video has a very classic style to it, with footage of the band performing the song. The lighting keeps things modern and towards the halfway point things get [...]
Tweet Imagine the musical child of Phoenix and The Strokes with dashes of Modest Mouse thrown in. Valencia based band Polock is such child. Their debut album, "Getting Down From the Trees" , released in April of last year, was most likely the soundtrack to many summers, bursting with sunshine, incredibly catchy hooks, and some great songwriting. It's not the most experimental or groundbreaking record I've heard by a long shot, but when the record is on, [...]

This sure has been a long time coming but Lo-Fi-Fnk 's sophomore album The Last Summer is finally here! It took over six years for this duo of perfectionists to follow up on their 2005 debut full-length Boylife , although they did reward their loyal fans with a few EPs here and there to ease wait. Singles such as "Marchin' In", "Sleepless" and "Boom" were so strongly received and helped build further anticipation for the new album. Ahead of the release, Leonard Drougge and August Hellsing put together a [...]

Photo via Polock's Facebook page Polock took me on the greatest Google search adventure I have ever had to do. Bits and pieces of the band's identity would slowly make itself present as I scavenged through month old online publications, and checked out their music. Finally, I discovered the only piece of information I needed: "Fireworks." Listening to this song makes me wish I had discovered these guys at the beginning of the summer. Danceable beats, guitar riffs that ooze indie pop delight and an overall sound that will make you jump with joy, Polock [...]

Happy Fourth of July ! Fireworks from Valencia: Polock - Fireworks Next Live Show: 09 july: 11 Festival Pulpop Roquetas del Mar, Almería, Spain Polock Blog / [...]

In honor of Independence Day, here are two bumpin' songs that are appropriate to play tomorrow no matter what your plans. Yes, I've been waiting months to post these and the day is finally here. Happy 4th! Mp3s: Polock- Fireworks Kelis- 4th of July (Calvin Harris Remix) ( image credit )

After the Sounds from Spain showcase, I've decided that sangria is the breakfast of champions. I mean, if you're going to be daytime drunk, might as well do it right. Polock kicked off the showcase with a quick set for those of who woke up early enough to catch them. They played with a great morning-appropriate energy that built up to the closer, "Fireworks," which, while it wasn't a Katy Perry cover, was exuberant nonetheless. Capsula followed and drew a surprisingly large crowd. Who knew people still liked pop punk like that? I wasn't as into it as everyone else, [...]

S-P-R-I-I-N-G It is going to be 60 degrees where I am tomorrow, and there's no way you can walk around in that first-time-of-the-season weather without a new spring mixtape. This is meant to be listened to when the sun is shining…..run around outside, drive with the windows down, procrastinate on everything important. Go, go, go! Download the zip file . Track Listing: 1.) Two Door Cinema Club- Something Good Can Work (THE TWELVES remix) 2.) Down At The Post Office- DJ Design [...]

Being compared to the now ubiquitous Gallic indie rockers Phoenix should be an enormous compliment, but I think that if I were an indie rock-star, (which is just not quite the reality) being relentlessly compared to them by anyone who feels that they are sufficiently qualified to do so by having an internet connection and the ability to type may force me to remove a few journalistic limbs here and there and use the results to play an ironic cover of '19012. This is the challenge that Spanish 5-piece Polock face. [...]
POLOCK(Indie Rock)SXSW bound Polock do some seriously good work here. A slightly more electronic sounding Phoenix is how I would describe these guys, and my ears are definitely digging it. The album, Getting Down From The Tress, came out last year and is available through iTunes. This one really made my morning. Check out "Fireworks"! Feel like Polock could be big, a post-Phoenix invasion big. They're European posi-pop and they make songs as though they're soundtracking a lovely moment in a youth movie. Polock's got that special sweetness thing down pat, that softness that taps into everyone's inner-romance and nostalgia. Because being young isn't about trouncing through the woods and [...]

The word 'organic' is used by music PR companies to describe the way that music bloggers find tracks, songs and artists that are not led by the PR company themselves. If you read a variety of websites and music blogs you'll soon get to realise which ones are just 100% PR company led and the ones that are actually finding artists 'organically', searching for great new music be it via the web, seeing bands live or hearing bands on the radio. Of course, as we've said before there's really no such thing as true unique discovery of new music – [...]
