Attia Taylor has been a lo-fi darling of The Deli for quite some time now. The Girard College grad, Girls Rock Philly alumnus and now dedicated GRP counselor has been building a following by captivating audiences with her experimental bedroom pop and heartwarming positivity. She has also been quite the supporter of the indie music scene as a co-founder (along with Madeline Thomas) of the celebratory female musician blog Lady.Bang.Beat. and her work with Tom Tom Magazine. Attia Taylor will be opening tonight on the big stage of the TLA for infamous cult band The Polyphonic Spree. [...]

The front of the stage was covered in a wide red ribbon, from which Spree leader Tim DeLaughter cut out a heart, from which the rest of the band -- 22 of them this time -- emerged. The Polyphonic Spree are on tour with Sweet Lee Morrow and play Webster Hall in NYC on May 23 , a show they're going to record and release... "NYC was our first home away from home in the States," says Spree frontman Tim DeLaughter of the decision to record their first concert album there. "We went from very small crowds in Texas to the UK for for the Meltdown Festival curated by David Bowie in 2002, then straight to New York to play eight shows in seven days on our 'layover' back [...]

Choral, symphonic rock band The Polyphonic Spree are going to be performing at London's HMV forum on October the 31st of this year, it will also be their only Uk show. However, this show will be different. The band are going to be performing their own re-imagining of the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture show! Fans that come in fancy dress will receive a drinks voucher as part of their ticket purchase so invest in a corset. The band will also be playing songs from their impressive back catalogue, so it's all set to [...]
It's been a little while since we've heard anything out of the Polyphonic Spree . June marks five years since the Dallas collective's last release, The Fragile Army , and if you've felt a little less sunshine in your life during that time now you know why. Tim DeLaughter's large, robed band often numbers over two dozen members, and spent much of the oughts decade bringing unironic, uncynical, impassioned musical joy to the world during a time it could hardly have been more needed. So what have the self-described purveyors of pyschphonic tunes been [...]

Preteen Zenith features Polyphonic Spree's Tim DeLaughter
Preteen Zenith is the new collaboration between Polyphonic Spree's Tim DeLaughter and Secret Machines Philip Karnats and the duo is set to release Rubble Guts and BB Eye on May 29 via Good Records . The Zenith doesn't fall too far from the Spree although there are about 45 less band members in the new collaboration! Tim DeLaughter: "Not having a major label behind you is liberating and taxing at the same time. Artistically the sky is the [...]

Promote Your Shows with Video
Lately I've been noticing a number of artists posting video to promote their show at a specific venue. I've mainly seen this for shows at the Great American Music Hall (GAMH) but that's because I follow them on both Facebook and Twitter. It got me thinking that more bands and venues should do this. Not only is it an inexpensive way to promote your show, it already has a built-in audience. There's a good chance that the venue and attendees will share it across their social networking profiles. Above is a video [...]

Last Night's Show: The Polyphonic Spree, Crescent Ballroom, Phoenix
What a thrill to see The Polyphonic Spree again! Thursday night's show at Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix was full of happy faces, a fantastic band and a great conducter-singer in Tim DeLaughter. Last night's show was up close and full on musical magic. See all my pics from The Polyphonic Spree here . A couple of interesting opening acts started off the night. Jesse Hester, who is playing keys for the Polyphonic Spree tour, did a full acoustic guitar set of his songs under his Sweet [...]
