![SUCKERS, YELLOW OSTRICH, THE WAR ON DRUGS [SUGGESTED NYC CONCERTS]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3650888_lg.jpg)
Yesterday was disgusting, today is disgusting, and it's looking like the forecast for the rest of the week is just as bleak. Visits from Little Dragon , Handsome Furs , Suckers , and The War on Drugs should make the dreary weather bearable though! Check out this week's picks for best New York City indie concerts. Yellow Ostrich , EXITMUSIC , Parlovr , Caged Animals @ Glasslands [...]
This is a vigorous nod towards the folks over at Under The Radar Magazine, whose staff often list their favorite songs of their month accompanied with nonsensical pictures, and a further chin tilt to our beloved Allison over at Radio Potato who displays her seasonal finds on the regular. These are the (secret) songs that [...]

We resume our reposts of the Blogophilia series this week with volumes 8 and 8.5. Why 8 and 8.5? Well, I mixed these at the same time, and the tracks came from the same collection of songs I reviewed. Calling one 8 and the other 9 didn't feel right. We've also had a 12.5, and recently a 26.5 for the same reason. Like volume 7, these two mixes really capture the summer spirit. Volume 8.5 has a throw in from an "oldie but goodie." Enjoy... Blogophilia Volume 8 [...]

This is the third installment of my Memorial Day mix. Take a look at the previous two years' mixes here and here (sorry, the mp3s no longer work). We Knox Roadians hope you're all having fantastic Memorial Day weekends. I myself went to a nice BBQ party at the queen of i rock i roll 's place last night. Not too many songs this time, but there should be just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. Pomegranates - "Everybody, Come Outside!" [MP3] Everybody, Come Outside! [...]
Bear with me through this first part cause the last half is on awesome Persian pop music from before 1979. You don't want to miss that. I think deep down I'm trying to be a music snob. To be that guy I hate. The one who looks down on his less-informed friends with a dickish sneer and says things like, "I'm into music that you've probably never heard of." I said that almost exact phrase on a recent date (sorry Rita) and immediately regretted it. Sometimes I can be prick. I'm sure there are times I [...]

Our list has nothing and everything to do with Earth Day, so as humans of Earth, check out what other humans have been up to. Starting with KIDCITY , the duo from outside Toronto composed their track "Blood Face" in an electronic driven dizzy that's quite catchy. They've got an EP out May 31. Next, from Bath, UK are Flags . This newly-formed group will be releasing their single "Running" on Monday, April 25. Also from England and on Monday, The Wombats have This Modern Glitch coming out. The remixed [...]

One of our favorite summer activities here at Backseat is heading up to Cincy for the MidPoint Music Festival 'Indie Summer' Series. They bring in great bands. The atmosphere is charged at Fountain Square. The shows are on Friday nights. And it's free! Some of this summer's acts have been announced. All are pretty much 'must see' shows. We definitely wont miss Javelin, Neon Indian and the Pomegranates, but odds are, we won't miss any of the shows. Hope to see you there! June 3 : You, You're Awesome with Javelin [...]
Sweet and mild surprises awaited those of us who arrived at showtime last night for Ra Ra Riot's performance at the Firebird. First, though the doors opened an hour before, a line stretched into ... Continue reading "Review: Ra Ra Riot and Pomegranates at the Firebird, Tuesday, March 15" >
Three fabulous bands, Fake Problems , The Pomegranates , and Laura Stevenson and the Cans , will be hitting the road together this spring and I think you should be there. These bands will also be joined by the also amazing Now Now and Into It.Over It. will also be joining the tour on select dates. If that weren't enough, the bands have put together a free mixtape for you to get a taste [...]

Art-pop Cincinnati dwellers Pomegranates have released the single Prouncer off their latest album One of Us via Afternoon Records . Chock full of their trademark shimmering guitars and frisky beats, Prouncer seems to be broken up into pieces; changing halfway through from Joey Cook's alien baby vocals to Isaac Karns' toasty, throaty tones, while cascading electronic loops tie the entire production together as it prances along. The beauty of the tune lies within its sonically soaring pop-stylings and sexy, cryptic lyrics such as "the [...]

I like Pomegranates, the band. I always have liked what I've heard from them. But I can't get really into them, and it's because of their name. I just feel like pomegranates, the fruit, are so overrated. Goofy ass fruit that looks like a bunch of fish eggs when you cut it open. Then a few years ago someone decided to turn those fruity little egg balls into expensive drinks for people who see words like "antioxidants" and get a boner. No, thanks. I'll stick to my blood oranges, classic strawberries, and tropical fruit superstars like pineapple, mango, papaya, and [...]

Here are Pomegranates, who are in my opinion, a very musically organized band, simply making enjoyable tracks that you can listen to on repeat for a day and still want more. I would suggest starting with "Southern Ocean" and looking around after that. Blog at pomegranatesart.tumblr.com and their twitter .

![[ATTENTION] POMEGRANATES NEED YOUR HELP](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3231073_lg.jpg)
Pomegranates took to twitter late last night with a petition. The band has started work on their fourth album, the follow-up to 2010's One of Us , but due to a series of unfortunate events and financial setbacks, they need our help. The band has launched a Kickstarter campaign to get the funding they need to get this record done. If you're not familiar with Kickstarter, it's freaking awesome and you should look into it yourself, but essentially it provides a platform for artists to collect funding for various projects. There is a deadline to meet the pledge goal [...]

After three successful albums in a span of just over four years, one of Cincinnati's best bands, Pomegranates, are ready to create yet again. The band are returning to the roots of their first album Everything Is Alive for album number four, and are asking for your help to get it done. Here is an excerpt from a note written by Poms drummer Jacob Merritt. Also in the spirit of that first album, we want to try and fund the recording independently of a label. That's not to say that we won't end up [...]
