Song Pomegranates ~ " Whom Who " myspace plays: 6,924 download (via lujorecords ) Cincinnati based Pomegranates first full length album Everything is Alive is out this month (and available now through the lujorecords site). There is a cool flow to their songs, and what is really interesting is that they have only been a band for a short time. If you are in the Cincinatti area on May 17th you should check [...]

Cincinnati-based quartet, Pomegranates, work a fine blend of pop rock, or as the boys call it, "art pop." Drawing on influences like The Beach Boys and The Kinks, the band's debut full length, Everything Is Alive, is a 10-track recording that's as timeless as it is fresh. From start to finish the album is, simply put, a delight. Before the release of their debut album, the band will have shared the stage with Jimmy Eat World, French Kicks, Joe Lally, Islands, Chris Garneau and Ra Ra Riot. Impressive! Everything Is Alive was recorded in August 2007 at Sound [...]

As always, these 4 CDs are up for grabs, so just drop in on the QBiM Facebook page and stake your claim to the CDs for volume 36, or drop us a line at contests [at] quickbeforeitmelts [dot] com with "4 CDs please!" in the subject line, and your full mailing address in the body. Oh, Pomegranates, You sneaky little sneakers, nice try. You really tried your best to try and confound me into becoming completely dumbfounded by that shapeshifter of a song you named Thunder Island. Fie on you, you Ohio songcrafters and your slippery styles which will enable the laziest of music reviewers to label you as "genre-defying." Fie! Yes, you thrive off the diverse musicality of post-punk, what with your calculated intros and deliberate executions, complete with progressive tempo increase and stylistic shifts. How clever are you to sound like a composed band [...]

I'm excited that these guys are finally comin' out! I heard them when they shared a stage with Jimmy Eat World (one of my all time old school favs). Pomegranates are rollin' out their full length Everything is Alive via Lujo Recs to follow their awesome Two Eyes EP. These Cincinnati guys are playin' some great indie pop, but I think what does it for me is Joey Cook and Isaac Karns' slightly higher and lower voices, are you hearin' that? I'm gunna say this album is a [...]

Infectious. That's the best word I can come up with to describe this band from my very own hometown of Cincinnati. These guys have been on heavy rotation in my iTunes since I saw them open for Peter Bjorn And John a few months ago. Mixing elements of pop and indie rock, they manage to pull off a sound that many bands fail to do without sounding clich é. Honestly, this is quality material we're talking about here, and it's amazing how fast this band has developed. 1 week [...]

i really like this little pop rock number from pomegranates that each note secure posted just over a month ago...especially when the female vocal kicks in about half way through, it's just great...the track isn't on the cincinatti band's recent ep, but i'm guessing it'll make the cut when their full length debut is released early next year. download: pomegranates - thunder meadow
