Before the break I was having a conversation with my friend Kat on a couple of topics, one being end of year mixtapes. She had an office party where everyone was to make and submit their own, France's Jamaica making her list because of the mix that I put together . While talking about Jamaica, Kat asked me if I had seen their hilarious video. I thought she meant their guide to becoming a buzzband , but Kat meant their quite literal video for "Cross The Fader" (under their previous band name Poney Poney). Watch the [...]
(photo by Amaury Choay) Car commercial ad placement and debut album already behind them, the French new wave/dance rock dudes in Jamaica are finally overseas playing dates starting tonight in San Diego. Big tunes, bigger guitars, catchier choruses, etc. You can catch it all around the United States of America for the next ten days, [...]

Parisian power pop group Poney Poney is back on the scene, but they've changed. The trio is down to two— Antoine Hilaire and Flo Lyonnet— and they've mixed up their style and switched their name to Jamaica . They dropped their first single "I Think I Like U 2" a few months ago and it has propagated across the blogosphere with help from a remixed by fellow Frenchman Breakbot . From there they released "Short and Entertaining" which moved closer to a Phoenix/Tahiti 80-esque sound; French label Kitsuné included the single in the ninth [...]
Sure, the only thing really "metallic" are the chords played in the crisp and obliteratingly poppy "Short And Entertaining" single from the former Poney Poney duo now called Jamaica, but the video clip for the Xavier de Rosnay-produced single would have you think otherwise, with young men with big hair doing their best "Heavy Metal [...]

Jamaica have featured a few times on 1FTP now, and are a considerable favourite of ours. Well they have a new single out, "short and entertaining". The track is off their new LP "No Problem" which is due to be released August 23rd. This track is slightly different to the likes of "I Think I Like U 2", it's a complete tease up until the chorus, then they hit us with their typical upbeat style which we love, but they don't give too much away as they go straight back to a sustained build up for the next [...]

Heres another track from the duo formerly known as 'Poney Poney'. Now as Jamaica the French electro pop wizards came out with ''I Think I Like You 2'' earlier in the year and will release their debut album ' No Problem ' on August 23rd. With production credits going to Justice's Xavier de Rosnay and Daft Punk sound Engineer Peter Franco its looking like a bright last quater of 2010 for these boys. Jamaica - By The Numbers by 1FTP
(photo by Amaury Choay) Maybe the hit of the summer gets maybe the remix treatment of the summer here, as the former Poney Poney guys who are now called Jamaica, who've already gotten huge exposure lately from getting placed as the marquee track in a Volkswagen campaign, get hit up left and right from the Brazilians [...]

Synths are great, don't get me wrong. But sometimes, I step away from the whole "electronic" thing and listen to some rock music. What's even better? A combination. The first track comes from Parisian Duo "Poney Poney." This track starts off fairly simple, catchy right away. Then, it develops into a synthesized pile of electro energy, (Vengeance Essential House, much?) The lyrics are pretty solid, but this song is about the rhythm, and boy does it have it. Be sure to check out the music video while you're [...]
JAMAICA - I Think I Like U 2 VIDEO (Directed by So Me and Machine Molle) from bermudapants on Vimeo . Poney Poney return to the blogosphere with a new moniker ( Jamaica ) & a new track ( I Think I Like U 2 - Produced by Justice's Xavier de Rosnay and Daft Punk sound Engineer Peter Franco). So what happens when Poney Poney change their name and enlist Justice's Xavier de Rosnay and Daft Punk's sound Engineer Peter Franco to produce their album? Jamaica , that's what! They have just dropped this, their début track, 'I Think I Like U 2', which is a feel good, upbeat Indie-Electro fun jam complete with Daft-style solo. ♫ Jamaica - I Think I Like U 2 (zShare) (MediaFire) Check the, pretty funny, video here . Jamaica also have a track [...]
Maybe the best video of the year happens to appear to not be all that big of a deal, as this new clip for the first track from the new project from Poney Poney's Antoine Hilaire and Flo Lyonnet, dubbed...

Jamaica . Nope, not the country, but the band. These guys use to go under the name Poney Poney who did alright for a bit (When Do You Wanna Stop Working was a bit of a fave for a bit). What's better is that they're not even from Jamaica...they reside in Paris. They're back though with a bit more of a summery sound (those guitars remind me of summer...). Still awesome pop songs though...a bit more indie than electro... Anyway, they've got their debut single I Think I Like U 2, and they're putting it out [...]
