I love the fact that music is such a subjective thing. I don't do reviews on this blog for the reason that I don't want to write negatively about any form of subjective art. With music, I believe most people listen to music which reflects their position in life. It is a rare thing to find that album. The album that you believe was written just for you in the exact moment in time. In the past I think Pearl Jam's Ten, Katell Keineg's O Seasons, O Castles and Mark Dignam's Poetry & Songs from the Wheel are the albums [...]

..... Why Don't I? End of year lists on the blogsphere are interesting and fun. Firstly I have not heard every Irish release this year. Nor have I seen every gig by an Irish artist. The Gorgeous Colours – Self-titled It was a great year for Irish album releases. I have enjoyed the albums by Jape, [...]

So you like a laugh and a giggle with the girls, swopping stories of crushes, frustrations and secrets. And even though you tease, so not telling what they say about me, it just makes me smile all the more. Now that's just not fair, is it? And yes you're not so sorry, for all those suedehead silly notes, flirting in unchartered movements around a distant telephone thing wire. But those deadlines must be met. The meetings attended to strategise [...]
A Singer Must Die Genre: Alternative / Pop From: France, United Kingdom, Sweden If you're going to take your name from the title of a Leonard Cohen song then you have to be either, extremely mad, extremely confident or extremely good. Well French duo A Singer Must Die , formed by Manuel Ferrer and Philippe Le Guern (ex Les [...]
Southerly Genre: Breakbeat / Showtunes from: Portland, Oregon, Portland, United States The closest most so-called pop auteurs come to multi-tasking is mustering a balance between singer and songwriter. Southerly, the nom-de-tune of Krist Krueger is the product of a bona fide DIY visionary. Not only does Krueger sing, write and arrange the music, he's a seasoned [...]
This being the not so new old Pony Club from Dublin as led by Mark Cullen (who doubles as a producer in non Pony Club moments). Under various guises including Bawl (their best incarnation) and Fixed Stars this group have tethered on the brink of success on several occasions. And at one point they even got their mitts on big budget backers to push their shiny pop adventures. But there was
