Ex-Ponytail guitarist Dustin Wong's spacey new jam is called "Pink Diamond," and the track's accompanying visual fits nicely with the track's blown-out, psychedelic vibe. It's like an indie rock-centric Spirograph! Did you know that there's a direct correlation between the decline of Spirograph and the rise in gang activity ? Watch the video download the song below. Dustin Wong // "Pink Diamond" After the untimely demise of Ponytail (one of the loves of my life) I've been able to find solace in the craft of Dustin Wong . His guitar work became one of the art-pop outfit's most recognizable and endearing features. Every time I listen to his music I get pangs of bittersweet nostalgia for the band that is no more, but I also feel gleefully ecstatic about where this artist is going. He is easily one of the most exciting artists on the scene right now and I [...]

In September we toasted the best new bands of 2011 . Bright futures for those guys! But come this time of year it's also important to remember the musical groups who called it a day. Some of these acts were taken from us before their time, while others imploded due to overwhelming apathy. Herewith our look at all of them, good and bad and who? . Thanks again to Matt Neatock for the video production assistance. Please hold your applause until the end. Read More...
It's been a banner year for Hardly Art. Seemingly back-to-back-to-back-to-back fantastic albums filled out a year capped of by the Gem Club album Breakers, a truly somber bit of orchestration. To celebrate the festive days cluttering up the calender before the inevitable turn towards 2012, the good folk at Hardly Art sent over a list [...]

This month, I am trying to dedicate myself to only listen to 2011 releases in an effort to choose my personal highlights of the year. One of the choices which didn't make the cut, but is great nevertheless, is the final album by Ponytail. Relentless, overly-enthusiastic and fun, the album plays out just like the cover. So enjoy some crazy rock music. Flabbermouse

Tomorrow night, its time to Check Yo Ponytail. The banging LA party was squashed for a little while, but returned earlier this year, making waves nationwide with stories of crazy debauchery. On Saturday at Grand Central, Iheartcomix and Media Contender invite you to take part of the fun when the Check yo Ponytail Tour makes its final stop in lovely Miami. The line up includes some of the best names in the game, you may wanna get your tickets while you still can. Spank Rock [...]

There's another hot-shit show tonight which we didn't mention , and that's the jam-packed, super-stuffed lineup of the Check Yo Ponytail tour, which hits Branx tonight and will probably leave a mark. Spank Rock are the big-name headliners, but Big Freedia is also in there, plus the Death Set, Pictureplane, Franki Chan, and stuff to look at from Demonbabies. We didn't write about this show, and that is because we are stupid and untrustworthy. Check Yo Ponytail started as a party in LA that embraced all genres and forms, as long as it [...]

Check Yo Ponytail 2 is bringing the party to you. Their first ever tour is kicking off this month and features plenty of cutting edge sounds and visuals.

You may not know this, but our interview with Franki Chan of iHeartcomix was actually one of our first, after meeting him at SXSW in 2008. Franki is also from Bloomington, Indiana, where I went to school. He left B-Town for LA, launched Check Yo' Ponytail and tons of other things, and hasn't looked back. His party has grown into its first ever tour featuring Spank Rock, Death Set and more. It hits Chicago on 10/28. Check out the trailer below.

If you never invested any time into the indie band Ponytail before, then don't worry about doing it now. The group has decided to call it quits even after their recent well-received release.
