Whilst we may known for our refined palette in underground disco and house and often only spotted ripping some muscle in the gym or spinning wax at da hottest clubz, once every so often (most Thursdays) we switch our dumb bells for an XXL Fubu vest (dress) and swing on down, John Wayne style to The Social , just off Oxford street for some beer, bitchezzz and...hip hop karaoke (observation only) It's pretty hit or miss, but the odd time they'll spin 30 minute intervals crammed with the finest old school 90s flavas! In honour of these little [...]

In 1994, Common's "I Used To Love H.E.R." traced Hip-Hop's timeline and pointed out one of the music's major shift with the lyric "She said, 'Afrocentricity, was of the past...'" The early '90s saw artists who placed an emphasis on being Black in America and revitalized a spirit unseen since Civil Rights era. Once a very rooted art, rap's rise to popularity changed the complexion of the game to green. Prior to that, everything was all Black. Here are five albums by groups who wore their pride on their sleeves and shared it through music. [...]

It never dawned on me that albums ever went out of print until all my CD's were stolen from my dorm room during my freshmen year of college. Between Best Buy and BMG, I didn't have much problem replenishing my stock until I got to a particular infamous album, which played a part in Rawkus Record's demise. And it was going for well over a resonable asking price on Amazon. Now, an industry powerhouse is looking to do something about that. Universal Music Group has partnered with CreateSpace, an Amazon.com company, to release classic [...]

I really didn't even think about it when it was posted but I knew someone besides Budden didn't make that Jersey Radio mix . I did my due diligence & found Volumes 1 & 2...but there was no trace of three of NJ's finest. Shameful when you think about it because PRT was moderately successful & surely relevant during a certain time in rap. One thing's for certain: they always made mention of Trenton in their music. Yet, it seems as if they were left out of all three volumes of these compilations. Dah well, [...]

Rest In Peace Anthony "Tony D" Depula This is a special post in memory of New Jersey Legendary Producer Anthony " Tony D " Depula who tragically died in car accident last Saturday. Primarily his production on the classic "Thinking of A Master Plan" by YZ and Poor Righteous [...]
