Ripped from Diplo's mix series, AEIOU; 'About That Life', is a hypnotic psychedelic classic featuring the righteous vocals of Jahan Lennon formerly from Mad Decent brother band, Popo . Great one released by The Jeffrees . Cannot go wrong with this... This morning, we posted " About That Life ," the excellent and deeply uncharacteristic new song from Diplo and former PO PO member Jahan Lennon - a track more concerned with strummy psych-rock transcendence than dance-floor insanity. And we've already got the video for the song. Directors @LILINTERNET and Jack Cearnal go so heavy on hazy imagery that the video, appropriately enough, comes off looking like the acid-trip scene from a late-'60s movie. Watch it and download the track below. Read More...
Diplo and Jahan Lennon (Zeb from the now-defunct PO PO ) sit back on the laid-back psychedelic jam "About That Life," a track accented with hand percussion, acoustic guitars and very little of the usual Diplo bombast. Diplo's been working on a new solo album, so this could possibly end up on that release. Download it below. Read More...

Zeb Malik of Mad Decent's PO PO decided to branch out and is now creating music as Jahan Lennon . His debut is a cover of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers ' "Don't Come Around Here No More," and, in comparison to what we've heard from Malik through PO PO, it appears that he's experimenting with a "more refined sound." The cover is hazy and psychedelic, subdued and melancholic, and yes, a sitar is involved. Give the cover a listen below. Jahan Lennon - "Don't Come Around Here No More (Tom [...]
Stereogum After a years-long wait, PO PO finally released their stellar Dope Boy Magick LP earlier this year as a raga/grunge scuzz-pop outlier on Diplo's Mad Decent label. It's one of the year's most underrated, and well worth the wait, though project mastermind Zeb Malik has already moved on (or at least branched out) in moniker, with his new project Jahan Lennon. ("Jahan" is a Sanskrit-derived word meaning "the world," and the Lennon is not something I should have to explain here.) The debut [...]

Brace yourselves: the dudes over at Mad Decent are gearing up for their annual Block Party and with the line-up they announced yesterday, things are definitely going to get loud, probably crazy, and certainly awesome. This year, names gracing Penn's Landing's Great Plaza include Major Lazer (of course), as well as Bonde Do Role, Riff ... Continue reading

Hot damn!! The partial lineups for Diplo and co.'s five-city encompassing Mad Decent Block Party were announced today and I'm gettin' sweaty just thinking about it. The acts will vary according to city, however, Zeds Dead, Claude VonStroke, Nadastrom, Bosco Delrey, Jacques Greene, Riton, A Tribe Called Red and BADBADNOTGOOD have been confirmed for July 28 in Toronto's Yonge-Dundas Square. Whether more performers will be added or not is unclear at the moment but regardless, the above lineup will undoubtedly have people doing cartwheels a in the streets. Diplo appearance or not, the Toronto Block Party will be the most [...]

Check out Urban Outfitters using PO PO 's "Bummer Summer" for their Summer 2012 dress line promo video. We're always happy to see UO giving more exposure to hometown talent.
For all intents and purposes, Sunny Ali is Hassan Ali Malik, the youngest of the three Pakistani-American brothers from Philly that once constituted PO PO , the Mad Decent outlier project that released a vastly underrated LP, Dope Boy Magick , earlier this year. (PO PO is now down to just one Malik, Zeb, but has thrived through the attrition.) By implication, "The Kid" is Abdullah Saeed, who supports Hassan, handling drums and, according to this video, some keyboards. It's taken Sunny Ali a minute to get its post-PO PO bearings [...]

The fuzz is strong with this one. PO PO's Dope Boy Magick sounds as if it's being transmitted through a cloud. The debut full-length of once brother trio-turned-solo project of lone remaining bro Zeb Malik is a collage of outcast-rock past, with influences culled from goth, punk, and even witch house, but as its grungy bass crunch and oodles of reverb blur the borders between styles, the record becomes a sort of "Variations on Alienation for Drum Machine and Distorted Guitar." I swear this is a good thing. For one, the murky hiss covering [...]

Essentially, POPO has mixed several different genres together to achieve a singular sound-and that sound repeatedly fashions an infant-hipster version of Korn. It's hard to talk about a band named POPO with a straight face. In fact, people may mistake POPO for a reference to the city police or perhaps a children's circus clown. Starting off with three brothers and rapidly downsizing to one man, POPO is the creative vision of Zeb Malik, a Pakistani-born multi-instrumentalist and Philadelphia nursery school music teacher. Discovered by Trent Reznor, POPO has toured with bands and artists such as Nine Inch...

Check out the video for PO PO 's performance of "Dnt Wnt U, Jus Wnt It All" from his Philly record release show at the M Room on March 5, 2011. It was produced by Girard Hall . Not really sure why they posted about three minutes of nothing at the end of the video, but the footage that is there looks and sounds good. Enjoy!

Mad Decent's former band of brothers, PO PO , has slimmed down to just one lonesome sibling and that's Zeb Malik. The one brother carried on the name to create the long-awaited debut album, Dope Boy Magick . Comprised of old and new tracks, the album takes on a much more brighter and organized approach from the previous smaller releases. The album also features production from Nick Launay (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire, Nick Cave, PiL, Gang of Four) as well as Diplo and Malik himself. 'Final Fight' was released [...]
