Pop Culture Popsicles from STOYN Ice Cream. This is awesome. The flavors don't have much to do with the characters, but it makes me pine for the days of the ice cream truck when you could order the Sponge Bob popsicles or whatever cartoon character was popular at the moment. I used to love the Ninja Turtles with the bubble gum eyes. [via NotCot ] Tweet
Shot on location in Torquay, this video for The Bay , the next single off of Metronomy's brilliant 2011 release, The English Riviera , is a stunning, cinematic holiday that unconventionally plays with aspect ratios and transition. Everything shot in this pastel paradise has a gorgeous composition, and featured subject models are tinged with a slightly sensual disposition that you can't help but love. Enjoy! Metronomy will be performing at Check Yo Ponytail on July 30th. Tickets are available here . O S A K [...]

Dream Popsicle is the solo effort of one Bryan Enas based out of Bloomington, IN. Like his moniker suggests, Dream Popsicle is all about fuzzy wistful sounds that give off some fantastic noise pop vibes. "Caravan" is off a split digital 7" with Night Janitors available here. Caravan

In this installment of our 100 Albums You Might Have Missed series we look back at the year 2005. This year saw the debut of several new bands who have since really taken off and a few from those who have since disbanded. The "indie" spirit was alive and well so be sure to check these lost LPs out when you're looking for something "new" to listen to. Diamond Nights - Popsicle Released: February, 2005 [...]

Colby Bryant // "Popsicle" Given the cover art and the words thrown around on their bandcamp , you'd think that Colby Bryant were forging a new genre. "Scoot-tunes"… "scooter-gaze" … "scoot-fi"… Kinda funny. But when you actually listen to their tune "Popsicle" you realize that the whole scooter thing is just a joke. The music itself is much more serious. Well, seriously awesome. "Popsicle" is a lo-fi surf rock jam that burns in your ears. Underneath the fuzz and the surfy riffage is some strange manic sample. It almost sounds like [...]

Forgive the exclamation mark, but the arrival of any new Andreas Mattsson-related release has been incredibly exciting news for me for over fifteen years now - ever since I first heard Make Up by Popsicle and instantly found myself a new favourite band - and his new album Kick Death's Ass , due on February 18th, is the first we've heard of him for nearly five years since 2006's brilliant solo debut The Lawlessness of the Ruling Classes . (Well, apart from producing and contributing to Hello Saferide's last album, which was admittedly pretty great also.) [...]

While we were teenagers falling in love with My Bloody Valentine and Teenage Fanclub stateside, Swedes weren't left out of dream pop and power pop's paths, finding many of the same characteristics in the music of Popsicle , a four-piece act led by Andreas Mattsson who released several notable albums across the early '90s (and later reunited for a brief, though not as successful stint). Mattsson's voice exudes confidence and the collected tracks on 1992's Lacquer are a snapshot of classic '90s-era indie pop sounds, recognizable and nostalgic no matter what country you call home. I love the 90's! What's not to like, the Philippine Peso was 25 to a dollar. We witnessed the return of the Adidas Samba and Gazelle for your daily footwear needs. There's various states of curious experimentation, but that of course is another story. Best of all, I loved the variety of music that came out back then. Different genres were coming out from all corners of the globe. Europe had their britpop, shoegaze, twee-tinged music. The US had their Soundtrack Music (Singles OST, Reality Bites OST, Empire Records OST, Mallrats [...]

Fuck it, I'd better post something here before I forget how to do it, or Blogger delete the blog due to inactivity or something... Yes, like a screaming girlie on a railway line in a silent movie, I've been a bit tied up of late; give it another week or two, though, and I should be able to get things back on track, blogwise. In the meantime, ta for your patience - and get yer listening gear round these gems from Popsicle legend Andreas Mattsson's 2006 album The Lawlessness of the [...]

I'm not sure I've ever seen a James Bond action figure, but now the ladies (and some men) can take Daniel Craig home in a lickable popsicle thanks to Del Monte Foods's "license to chill" pop. Del Monte Superfruit Smoothies said artists "worked tirelessly" to recreate a shirtless sculpture of 41-year-old Craig in the scene where he emerges from the sea in Casino Royale , the twenty-first film in the James Bond series.
