Seattle's annual Capitol Hill Block Party takes place July 20-22nd in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. When a band sounds as slick in the studio as Porcelain Raft does, there is a real danger that the live performance will fail to live up to expectations. Studios can produce some magic results, and the temptation to attempt to recreate that experience onstage can be almost as precarious as the decision to blow off the polish and play with a raw immediacy at odds with the band's recorded sound. Toronto, Canada's version of South by Southwest, North by Northeast returns June 11-17th, bringing live music, film screenings, and interactive panels to venues across the city. In regards to the music portion, some 650 bands will perform across 50 stages. Youth Lagoon and Porcelain Raft: a match made in sleepwalking electro-pop heaven.

Off his newest release Strange Weekend , this track by Italian-born Mauro Remiddi takes Grizzly Bear type keyboard synths and lays them over lush vocals and percussion. A electric guitar enters around two minutes and mirrors the synths with a relaxed and sparse set of notes. Porcelain Raft offers up his official video for the track "Drifting In and Out" and the video is a nice simplistic accompaniment for the video. Using a smoke machine and some nice lighting Mauro Remiddi manages to create some lovely effects. Check it out for yourselves up at the top via NPR First Watch . Only four people graced the stage at Chicago's Metro on Wednesday night. Two for Porcelain Raft , two for Youth Lagoon , yet each respective act generated enough instrumentation to fill a large theatre double its size. Early into the night, the sweeping romantic ballads of Mauro Remiddi swirled about, bringing many seemingly cautious spectators to dance and swoon at each and every word. "Drifting In and Out" is arguably the best song on Porcelain Raft' s winter release Strange Weekend, so we're psyched that it's the record's next single. We just wish the track had a video of the caliber that it deserves – the track's hazy beauty doesn't need to equal lots of background fog machine, just like the presumed authenticity that comes with a DIY look doesn't necessitate juxtaposing every visual material you make over old VHS footage.
