[ via ] On Portals newest feature section, "PORTALswap", the London/San Francisco project, Joseph Stallion was showcased. The band consists of two, Max Petrek and his female vocalist, Erin Ross. They teamed up with Montreal's Seapoint to fabricate an atmospheric bass churner that hits incredibly deep in all fields. 'Made Like This' lays down a set of noisy embedded samples while synths hover over it to enlighten the ever so captivating vocals of both Max and Erin. There's a sense of spatial ambiance that Seapoint brings to the track [...]
Over the last few months so blogging pals and I have been hard at work on PORTALS, a new music blog collective/community. I super excited and proud to be a part of this! Please take a moment to... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]
PORTALS is officially live! :

So if you have not yet heard of the newly established blog collective, Portals , I highly suggest you familiarize yourselves with the sixteen excellent music blogs that make up of it. Pushing the sound and passion for a rapidly growing movement in today's musical atmosphere is exactly what we need more of. These sixteen blogs include some of the finest in the blogsphere; Smoke Don't Smoke , Life Aquatic , Pasta Primavera , Flashlight Tag , and several others. They've materialized a 16 track mixtape, one track hosted by each blog. Some incredible artists [...]
Not sure if you've heard the news already, but earlier this week, some of our longest-standing friends in the blogosphere, including Life Aquatic , East to West , Decoder , Verb/Re/Verb , Smoke Don't Smoke , Dead As Digital , and ten others (they're all great and truly unique), have launched the site of their new blog collective Portals , a very promising project that is devoted to "a new Do-It-Together movement, that networks in order to raise a cacophony of art and media - enriched by diversity and sustained by opportunities available [...]
"WHAT?! So the secret identity of Portal was Cynic all along?" Nah, it just so happens that the very American progressive rock band, Cynic, used to be called Portal way back in the mid-'90s. That was around the same period the Australian Portal came into existence, but I bet the two didn't even know that ...
No, not that Portal. Here's a pretty major lapse in my metal education: I somehow had no idea that there was a Cynic "off-shoot" project called Portal, which combines the talents of Paul Masvidal, Sean Reinert, guitarist Jason Gobel, bassist Chris Kringel, and vocalist Aruna Abrams. There's even some demos already up on YouTube (like the one above), so really, seriously, [...]
Introducing PORTALS : It's a special day today. I get to introduce to you something that I, and the people that make up some of my all-time favorite blogs, have been working on. And that is PORTALS . PORTALS is the ultimate collaborative effort between sixteen blogs. Our hope is not to pander to the expectations of what we should be, but to stand as a safe-house for the music and art that represent the age we live and breath [...]
What happens when 16 blogs join forces and take an oath to honor and respect chill music vibes forever and ever? PORTALS. I'm proud to be a part of this new blog collective. By the end of... [go to the website to read the rest of the article, download mp3s and more]
I'm happy to announce the end of my winter hibernation from blogging with this post. Over the past 3 months, me and 15 other blogs have been working together to create Portals, a collaborative venture into sight, sound, hand holding and skipping. Okay, maybe not hand holding and skipping… YET. But soon. REAL soon. Beyond just the usual "co-premieres" and "tebowing" that other blogs offer, Portals will also be concentrating on live shows, and more inter-blog collaboration than you could shake a stick at. Click the link above for a glimpse of [...]
Today is the day! And man.. have I been excited to share the news with you all. You might've noticed posts on various blogs about PORTALS , well me and 15 other music bloggers have been working steadily for the last three months or so for the launch of this new music experiment. We wanted to create something collaborative, and totally DIY (or rather do-it-together). I think the list of contributors speaks for itself but we all share a common thread: we all love music and we've all devoted our lives in some capacity, to [...]

Ahh, can't wait to tell you what we've been up to the past few months... here's a teaser. All in time. Stay tuned!
What do Portal and Bloody Panda have in common? Well, on the most surface level, members of Portal wear executioners masks on stage, and members of Bloody Pan used to wear executioners masks on stage. On a somewhat deeper level, though, is the fact that they're definitely both of the "love 'em or hate 'em variety." I [...]
We all know Portal 2 for its mind-bending puzzles and biting black humor. But its clever music deserves a nod too.
One of the more random, but enjoyable, memes to hit the net recently were a mashup of old school NES games , like Mega Man or Zelda, with the addition of a portal gun . Well, someone has done those vids one better by making an actual playable Mario Bros. game wherein Mario has a portal gun. More information on the game's development is here . Yes, this is an actual game being developed - it is not a [...]
Danielle Rayne stars as Chell in this absolutely incredible, fan-made Portal movie. The short, Portal: No Escape, comes from commercial director Dan Trachtenberg , who may or may not know as one of the three hosts of The Totally Rad Show. [via TDW Geeks ] Tweet
One of the great things about Portal - the intimidatingly intense death metal band from Australia, not the highly addictive video game - is their mystique. Moreso than perhaps any other band - including Ghost - they have done a terrific job of keeping their actual identities a secret, and they're all the more alluring for [...]
I've always wondered how the singer of Portal came to be the way he was, and this comic by MI junkie Keith Carlson for Orlandooom sure has a pretty solid theory. If you aren't familiar with Portal, this clip will explain things better.
After the Zelda with a Portal gun and now Mega Man, it's pretty obvious that every old Nintendo game would be better with a Portal gun. What would be even better is if someone took Portal and turned it into an 16-bit game. Now that would get my attention. [Via Dorkly ] Tweet
