The VPME Friday Freebie London electronic quintet Portasound fuse massive beats, driving guitars and off kilter synth riffs to create an outrageously danceable, genre traversing mash up of styles and influences. 'Messerchmitt' is the aural equivalent of leaping into a vat of a certain blood hued bovine energy drink and is available as a free download. Play this before hitting the town this evening and you'll be dancing like Ian Curtis on roller skates caught in a strobe all night. [...]
Some Kung Fu action in the new video from Portasound. Their debut EP is out on Blood & Biscuits (Three Trapped Tigers, Sleep Party People, Tall Ships) on May 14th.

You know the score and you've heard all our moaning about not having enough time to keep this publication as updated as we would like, so let's cut right to the chase shall we? First up, some skewed and morphing analogue action from the wonderfully named Giant Claw . Out on Wool Recordings as limited edition 12" you can get 'Haunted Planet I-II' here from 30th of March. Drone is as drone does. Well that's what we've started thinking until we heard Hanetration who moves the field [...]

Yes! In time for NYE! This is my favorite year-end list to make because its obviously the most fun. And I give it the least amount of stress. Read on for all my favorite party/dance jams split into three increasingly heated sections. Almost all these tracks could fit into the last one but I had to split them up somehow! There is not much organization here, just grooves for miles. So polish those dancing shoes and get limber because I wanna see you bounce! Note that the list ends with a very appropriate title (and song) for New Years [...]
![Brandon's TBE Digest 31 – [12.11.2011] New Jams, Remixes, & Covers!](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3922870_lg.jpg)
Artwork by Jacob Youngblood Ziegler Brandon's TBE Digest is a place where I gather up all the recent jams that are worth a listen (or 10) but don't necessarily need their own post. Here you will find new tracks by known bands, remixes, covers, and even mashups if they are interesting. My favorites of the lot are in bold . This may be the last Digest I do like this. I'd really like to take the time to give the best of these tracks the solo post they deserve. If [...]

London electronic band Portasound , specializing in synth heavy instrumental electronic jams, have successfully taken on fellow Londoners My Tiger My Timing 's track "Written In Red" to create an upbeat dance track sure to have all the indie kids moving their feet. Pick that up below, and to catch you up on some of Portasound's prior original work, I threw in their pretty groovy instrumental single "Messerschmitt" , which you can pick up along with a few other tracks on their site [...]

It seems it's all treats and no tricks today as we have even more free music for you! My Tiger Timing are giving away the Portasound remix of their new single 'Written in Red' (released 14th November) as a special little present to all their fans. ♫ Portasound - Messerschmitt Portasound graced our ears in December of 2009 with the epic journey of an instrumental jam "Press Red For Burt Bacharach" (even a little womp-wobble in there!) and they've since added two more members and dropped this new track. "Messerschmitt" continues their swinging electro roller-coaster ride as it's pumps out more deadly grooves then one could possibly dance to at once. These Londoners purportedly turn dance floors to dust and I'd believe that in a second. Grab the intro & outro-sporting extended single of "Messerschmitt" here and [...]

Get your ears around a double headline extravaganza of post-punk, left-field dance rock with some rockabilly garage thrown in. A right good night for a fiver. If any of you are studying/working/thinking deep thoughts as much as me then you might want some tunes to keep you company. Here are some instrumental jams I have been listening to lately. Tunes without those pesky lyrics to distract you but not so mellow as to put you to sleep. ♫ Joe Goddard - Apple Bobbing Hot Chip's Joe Goddard just dropped his solo debut, Harvest Festival , and it sounds kinda like half-baked Hot Chip rejects. To be fair, it's clearly a different project but [...]

A selection of nine songs for your long weekend delectation. Enjoy. The Very Best's debut album Warm Heart of Africa is out on the 11th of August and while it's perhaps not as exciting as the mixtape last year, these remixes of the title track which features Ezra from Vampire Weekend are making up for it right now. The Architecture in Helsinki remix is essentially a cover with brass replacing the original's African guitar sample. It's awesome. The Metronomy is equally different taking the a snippet [...]
Be Kind Rewind was the last time I sat in a cinema and practically convulsed with laughter all the way through. Now, a clubnight has emerged that combines the lo-fi film making aesthetic of the film with hot live music. The film above is the result of the first Videopia at Notting Hill Arts Club, the 'sweded' film being 80's classic, Back to the Future. Tomorrow's event will see ET being reproduced. The below bands will follow to rock your world. 7-9pm FILMING E.T 9pm [...]

Portasound c'est la jeunesse, c'est ma console de jeu, c'est éléctronique, c'est punchy, on aime ça, Kool Kiss ! Can you present yourself? Portasound are three silly boys sitting in Whitechapel Hospital in East London in the minor injuries unit because on of us has just fallen off a wall and smashed his legs. Outside of visiting hours we make and play weird synth driven pop. There is James and Michael Dow (yes brothers) and Luke Bell who lives six doors along the [...]
