That roar you might have heard emanating from Santa Clarita wasn't a roller coaster crash at Magic Mountain — it's the thunder from the young shredders in Poweraxe . The vision of Brian Randall and Ryan Lichten, Poweraxe deals in instrumental post-rock with a stoner metal bent; their compositions play the loud/soft dynamic like a game of hide-and-seek, paying off in mountainous crescendos liable to melt anything nearby.
