Laid back Luke 4/19 power plant live: turbulence We hit turbulence
DJ Fresh recently uploaded this preview of his upcoming single with English rapper, Dizzee Rascal. "The Power" is a retro-vibed electro track that features Dizzee's signature vocals. We think this is definitely going to get a lot of mainstream success. There is something undeniably catchy about this track and the combined star power of DJ Fresh and Dizzee Rascal, who have both had number 1 singles in the UK, is going to make "The Power" a major crossover hit. Purists might criticize DJ Fresh for selling out (and they might have a point) but we're just enjoying the music. [...]

Montreal, Canada.. meet Black Tiger Sex Machine . Turning up every knob and frequency imaginable, the fancy dress & four decks wizard-trio of Black Tiger Sex Machine (consisting of Foxed Up, Marx Menace and Wolfcall) are on a one track minded mission to rid the world of evil wrongdoers, unfathomable cretins and inscrutable human looking gremlins in the night world as we know it. Gifted with that uplifting magic to make their BTSM-audio sound their own, these guys may just have the ability to sell ice to Eskimos' after all ... [...]
DIYDUI by FIDLAR Coming out in April on White Iris, here's the new Fidlar 73, DIYDUI . These guys are a LA band looking for some bottles to break and weed to smoke. Maybe a couch to lay on for a while, too. Definitely something to help Black Lips or Natural Child fans kick spring into high gear. Be on the lookout for some surf rock reverb, pounding guitars, and a load of attitude.

Now we have heard a lot about laser technology since the past 15 years. Be it in CD players to fusion inducing high energy beams, the laser is becoming a part of our everyday life. But what we often wonder is how powerful are our lasers today, and we can't help to compare what we [...]

Link Wray, who is considered by many to be one of the greatest and most important rock & roll guitarists of all-time, is a pretty familiar name with rock fans all over the world. The man practically invented distorted, fuzzy, and wild rock guitar sounds. He was one of the first, if not the first, guitarists to use the almighty power-chord. Pete Townshend has famously cited Link's importance, claiming that "he is the king; if it hadn't been for Link Wray and 'Rumble', I would have never picked up a guitar." By the way, "Rumble" has since been added by [...]
Knives by Tiny Manatee Local self-described "garagegaze" duo Tiny Manatee have dropped their debut EP, Frusen Glädjé , and while it's a little more gaze than garage, it's hard to believe such a riffy racket could come from a two-piece. Comprised of former Powers and current Sequoia rocker Cully Johnston and drummer slash Bite Cafe pastry chef Maggie Laleman, Tiny Manatee take their sonic approach from jagged alt-rock and beastly guitar shoegaze ala My Bloody Valentine. One track we particular dig on [...]

We've been doing this little thing called RubyHornet for a while now, since February of 2008. In that time, we've had some great memories, and (we think) built a wealth of dope content. "How About Some Old S**t" is our way of shedding some light on some of our favorites pieces from the past, some that may still be new to you. The title of the post comes from an old Beastie Boys live performance bootleg that I got a few years ago in which MCA says, "how about some old s**t", before they go into their classics. So, that's [...]
![[Video] No I.D. x The Legendary Traxster to Produce Entire Mikkey Halsted LP](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3992756_lg.jpg)
Chicago. There is no other way to put this, but Chicago is finally started to get it here as Mikkey Halsted has announced that legendary Chicago Producers No I.D. and The Legendary Traxster will be handling the production for his next LP. In the video below all 3 artists speak on the importance of an LP of this magnitude, for an artist who was yet to blow, as big as deserved. Traxster goes in-depth stating it was partially Mikkey's Power Freestyle ( presented by Ruby Hornet ) that solidified their decision to work his Halsted. It's [...]

HBO's Luck Well, it's a new year and that can only mean one thing, it's time for me to sit back on my ass and watch some new shows. While television's mid-season offerings often lack some of the pomp and circumstance associated with the fall series premieres, at first blush, this year's crop of new winter shows (and returning series') look as if they have a lot to offer. Here's a look at some of what I'm looking forward to watching, recording, renting and/or streaming in the upcoming Winter [...]
Destroyer has recently covered the track "Leave Me Alone" for the Mojo New Order covers album of Power, Corruption & Lies . Destroyer's take on this song plays it a little safe, adding some distortion and slightly altered vocal delivery. It's a pretty faithful adaptation; however, I am looking forward to hearing some different interpretations of these songs from the other bands on this compilation.
It's January 2nd, and I've already been treated to a few new tracks (more later.) But this one is a belated Christmas gift! My personal album favorite from last year is Destroyer's Kaputt. Its production value sounded like a Prefab Sprout or Tears For Fears record; something from the mid-802s. And not only does Dan [...]
Flaunt Magazine's Arty, Modish Video Archive From the swank edges of art, fashion and music comes a cache of lovely video from Flaunt.

I was originally going to post on Toronto outfit (they are a duo, maybe? Perhaps one guy with some friends? I don't actually know) Powers mainly because the video/first single from their EP is entitled Second Summer , and that seemed appropriate considering it was 15 degrees outside in Halifax this morning. Unfortunately, it began raining sideways at lunch, and so that approach didn't make as much sense, but the catchiness of Powers 4 song debut effort was enough to convince me that I was on the right track anyway. As [...]
