Another year is over. That means it is time for me to do our first real best of lists. I am doing this according to performance record on this year. So, here are the best performing tracks on the blog here according to their performance record! Please note that if a track was blogged from the artist's Sound Cloud account, I have not a way to track their performance. I suggest artists to do it this way, it promotes your band profile their way more. But, this is according to tracks uploaded to our account this year. The top five [...]
Pree is another band that deserves some of your ear's attention from the crew over at Paper Garden Records . They sound like a folked out Joanna Newsom or Regina Spektor with warm, shimmering nostalgia oozing out of every song. They take you to a much simpler time, which is why their new video for the track Lemon Tree could not be more perfect. The video features old home movies from the late 1950s of seminal moments we all have in our life. The cinematography was done by Patrack [...]
![[Review/Listen] – Pree – "Folly"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3947923_lg.jpg)
Tweet Although I can say I have rarely heard anything like it, that doesn't mean that the latest album from D.C. based band Pree is changing my life. Rather, this chirpy little merry-go-round of a record, "Folly" , is slowly but surely seeping into my good graces, as though through the crack under the door to my heart. There are times during the album when I feel like I am at the tea party in Alice In Wonderland. That's not to [...]

Being sick is terrible. I've been fighting something nasty since Tuesday. Luckily the worst was out of the way fast - after recording a 101 degree temperature Tuesday night, the fever subsided and I've slowly returned to a state that's manageable. I was still a bit stuffed up on the 25th, but by 10pm all that was left was sniffling and the occasional cough - my regular voice was back. On November 25, I decided to do something a little different. Not only would I tell a few stories about [...]
CMJ Music Marathon is, for some people, a year's worth of music packed into one 5 day span. The fest featured 1,000+ bands from across the world, playing venues in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. For those that partook in the musical adventure, the week was filled with late nights, loud indie rock 'n roll, and most likely, a lot of booze. Our collective hangover has finally subsided, so we present you with our favorite bands of CMJ 2011.

![Multiverse Playground [Music Festival]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3731866_lg.jpg)
On a cool September day in Brooklyn, Paper Garden Records decided to throw their last summer party. This backyard music festival was entitled The Multiverse Playground . With 12 hours of live music, DJ sets, comedy acts, art stations, free beer and Vitamin Water, this extravaganza reached its name to the maximum potential. Since music is a shared experience, I am here to give you the same satisfactions from my Saturday at Multiverse Playground. The event line-up went similar to this: Delicate Steve (DJ Set) Marra Barr , [...]

A couple of years ago Pree released an EP of stunning beauty. "A Chopping Block" was 5 tracks of bliss. Now, in 2011, we see the upcoming release of their debut full length album. "Folly" will be released on October 18 on Paper Garden Records . Pree was originally the solo project of May Tabol (Le Loup), but the band has since fleshed out to 4 members. Please have a listen to a track from their upcoming album. http://player.soundcloud.com/p layer.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi .soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F207 98079&secret_token=s-mCwze&"> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"> <embed allowscriptaccess="always" height="81" [...]
Click image to download full album Sounds like: Joanna Newsom, Y La Bamba, CocoRosie "Pree - Lemon Tree" What's so good? The playful piano opening definitely tipped me off that was is going to be a light-hearted, folksy frolic of a track. Pree's "Lemon Tree," a single off their upcoming album Folly channels everything I love about indie folk rock: it's charming, bizarre, [...]
Monday, September 12, 2011 Today's Quick Mention: I assume you crazy kids won't be rushing out to see Santana tonight, so instead you should consider catching Deleted Scenes, Royal Forest, and Haunted Amps at the Mohawk. Shows starts at 10pm. Tix are a super cheap $6. Music for your Monday. Enjoy. : Pujol - Mayday : Despite the fact that he's on the verge of releasing what's supposedly his 10th effort in two years, I'm not overly familiar with [...]

Frau Eva's music is humbling, whether it's in the delivery or in the songs themselves. They got their start performing in D.C. at house shows and quickly moved to larger venues, then hit the road for a tour once they released their EP, Rip Out the Threads , last summer. There's been some documentation of their development as a band along the way, giving them the ability to share their modest music through a series of videos. One video, shot for the City Paper, shows the band performing in front of a pile of snow, wrapped up in [...]
