Spanish Indie RockA friend showed me this a while back and unfortunately it's taken me up until now to post this. This is certainly nothing new but something certainly refreshing. Prehistoricos, founded by Tomas Preuss and Jessica Romo are a lesser known Spanish Indie band based out of Chile. They effectively utilizes an almost minimalistic instrumental side coupled with their faint foreign

♫ Prehistöricos - Como las Piedras If you are in need of a little tenderness after the intensity of Does It Offend You Yeah? then this is just the medicine. Brew some tea, light the votives, and settle in for a little cuddle session with your speakers as the various strings of "Como la Pierdas" pluck and strum their way through your ears and into your heart. Too sappy for you? Then you clearly aren't listening. This is beautiful. The kind of song that, if only it were in English, would surely soundtrack the heartstring-pulling season [...]
Tomas Preuss & Jessica Romo recorded a wonderful set of hand-held camera clips for La Vitrola, Chile's own Blogotheque-inspired glossy project. The band was captured playing the acoustic incarnations of the standout tracks from their fragile (yet exceptional) debut La Orquesta Oculta . Our favorite clip from the session is the breathtaking framing of "Sueños Muy Largos", a track we described as a "hazy dreamscape", and how it is the one track on the album that rejects the album's fixation with realism. The clip is wonderfully shot and very risky (I must confess I fear [...]

40. Carmen Sandiego - Joven Edad Independiente, "Superado" ♫♫♫ Named after everyone's favorite elusive educational criminal mastermind, Uruguay-based band Carmen Sandiego makes self-aware, tongue-in-cheek music with a fantastic dry humor a la Leslie Nielsen (RIP) in The Naked Gun series. Think very matter-of-fact songs about kisses that taste like cheese and induce vomit. There's actually one on this album. Musically, Joven Edad , is, for the most part, pretty simple and straightforward rock and roll. But in terms of tone and content matter, the [...]
