We all know of the myriad culinary delights offered by our tepid neighbors to the north - Canadian Club whiskey, Canada Dry ginger ale, Canuckian bacon (mmmmm) - but this here webbersite is more focused on, how you say, MUSIQUE, so let's instead turn our attenciones to the metale that's come from our North American [...]

What a fucking day. This was probably the best day of the festival, as well as the most exhausting, and the most painful, since I had to sacrifice seeing Chad Vangaalen and my beloved Handsome Furs for reasons of practicality. On the other hand, the bands the Gold Soundz crew did see were pretty fucking awesome. Marc : First event of the day was the Bruise Cruise , presented by M For Montreal and [...]
Click here to view the embedded video. I'm not sure what you're up to tonight, but if you like super totally bad ass live rock shows, then there's no reason you shouldn't be attending this show. I saw Priestess open for High on Fire last time they came through (which was the night I called 911 for the first time in my life because some chick fell through my glass coffee table and was bleeding from her back) and 2 things real quick-they slayed my brain and their albums [...]

Photo by Meqo Sam Cecil THIS WEEK'S BEST BET: Wolf Parade Friday, November 12 Variety Playhouse - 1099 Euclid Avenue NE in Atlanta 30307 Admission is $25 / Purchase Tickets Wolf Parade songs are generally tense and tenuous; there's a vague sense of unease and paranoia that inhabits their dark, out of the way corners. It's not always the easiest or most pleasant music to embrace, but those that make the effort to wade through their [...]
Last night at NYC's Mercury Lounge, after Earthless tore my face open (psychedelically speaking) and I spent the entire duration of Iron Age's set talking shit at the bar trying to wingman one of the dudes in Priestess with a kinda lame chick, Disembodied stepped up to the plate and took an enormously heavy and [...]
The 2010 incarnation of the CMJ Music Marathon is almost upon us! A solid week of booze, partying and music in the streets and clubs of New York City makes us all just a little bit crazy every year, but there's just so much fun shit happening all week that impossible not to heed its [...]

Tee-pee Records CMJ showcase lineup is pretty rad featuring a reunited Strife , Iron Age , Earthless , Disembodied , Priestess and Naam will all hit the stage on October 20th at the Mercury Lounge. Show is free, just email rsvp@teepeerecords.com and check out the show page here .
All the music that you won't want to miss this week
Its seems like more and more emails pile up in the ol' CoS mailbox everyday. Of course, while this is bad news for us (the work day just keeps getting longer and lonnnnggeer), it's good news for you. Said emails often include links and streams to the week's best new singles, remixes, and covers, and, because more emails means more links and stream, the length of our weekly Friday Mixtape also seems to growing beyond our wildest imagination. See, I told you it was good news... for you! Enjoy! (I'm going to now go and answer more emails). [...]

High on Fire took their U.S. tour with Priestess, Bison B.C. and Black Cobra in tow to Philadelphia's First Unitarian Church this past Tuesday. And that's about all I have to say about it. Stereogum [via SMN] is streaming the track "Trapped in Space & Time," - from the band's recent Tee Pee Records release Prior to the Fire - which you can listen to below. Priestess - "Trapped in Space & Time" See also: my brief writeup of one of [...]
"The last day of SXSW is always the most metal." - Kip Wingerschimidt, the morning of the last day of SXSW 2009, before staying up all night partying with Dredg and then tearing the insides of his knee to shreds in the most non-metal of ways whilst getting ready to go to the airport. Fortunately [...]
High on Fire. Black Cobra. Priestess. Chances are, if you're reading this, you probably like these bands as much as we do. So when we heard that they were touring together, we were all like, "Shit yeah, that's some shit right there!"Make the jump for tour dates and more inexplicable cussing. In case you didn't know. Why wouldn't you know High on Fire is playing. (dumb stoner) Also it's Gallery Hop. Also Priestess open and killed it all at SXSW Super secret super cool gallery show that you should go to first. Info after the jump. (it's at Short North Tattoo )

Maybe it had something to do with Hole's performance on Friday, but a thunderstorm moved through Austin in the early hours of Saturday morning, sending temperatures plummeting and kicking up a nasty north wind that had more bite than any guitarist I saw all week. SXSW attendees on Saturday scrambled for their winter clothes, if they brought any, and scrambled to buy some if they didn't. The always-hot Rachael Ray party highlighted the afternoon; newly reconfigured L.A. quartet the Like [pictured above] played Stubb's; and photographer Scott Dudelson sent these photographs. [...]
