Prizzy Prizzy Please Three did-you-really-go-to-that-mega -fest-this-weekend reasons to assume you didn't because you're a pretty cool kid and so you're jazzed up to head to Panchos tonight... 1. That doesn't mean they are Weird Al but it does mean you'll hear songs called "New Shoes" that are literally about new shoes. The fact that they wrap their silliness in some kind of post-punk dance just muddles the whole [...]

As I've settled in to my new home in Bloomington , Indiana, I've been getting to know who the local artists are, going to shows, and sitting down with people involved in the local music scene. According to Andy Goheen ( Sticky and the Bees , E.P. Hall ) who organizes shows for The Bishop , Bloomington has over 500 bands. Shortly after moving here Nicole O'Neal ( Hipster Spinster ) asked me to co-host a radio show with her. We decided to call it [...]

After a painstaking 2 years, Bloomington, Indiana's Russian Recording releases an amazing compilation album 'We Just Call It Roulette'. The Bloomington, Indiana-based recording studio is finally releasing 'We Just Call It Roulette' Vol.2, an eclectic collection with more variety than a Heinz factory. The generous people at Russian Recording have been carefully and painstakingly compiling a diverse range of tracks which are more than just a string of unimpressive demos. With bands including eccentric rockers Child Bite , the appallingly named obtuse [...]

We did mention a bit of holiday news before because it involved our favorite fake news pundit and some very special musicians , but now we're delighted to share with you a present! Joyful Noise [...]

For me, Saturday was THE day to be at Forecastle. The schedule for Saturday was thrown off for a half hour due to the Morning State canceling last minute, so the day started off with All We Seabees on the small stage, and Go Van Gogh took a later spot on the main stage. One of the most unexpected treats of the day however, was the Seedy Seeds from Cincinnati. Mixing a very cute kind of folk pop with Jenny Lewis-like vocals and a sometimes electro-pop feel thanks to some prerecorded beats, the Seedy [...]
