I love Propagandhi as much as they like to bitch about the US in other countries (seriously, please come play a show on the east coast, I'll be there if it's within a 300 mile radius!) Admittingly, while I don't often listen to "Where Quantity is Job #1", (which is a collection of a bunch of demos, live, out of print stuff), there are definitely some solid tracks on there that [...]
Instrumentals are way too underrated, often ignored (or *gasp!* dare I say it? skipped!) when we listen to an album. So in tribute to the lonely, underappreciated musical melodies, here are my top 10 (non-classical/non-techno) favorite instrumental tracks. 10. Propagandhi – Interlude Video panning out of a six year old's birthday party (thrown in the 80s) is what comes to mind with this song. Thank god Propagandhi has our [...]
Ok, I'll say it… I hope gasoline prices keep on rising. Don't get me wrong, I'm getting hit hard from it and I can barely afford to fill up anymore at all, but it's the only way people are going to wake up to our addiction. Maybe now instead of just spending and using gasoline in insane amounts, we'll actually conserve and make a push for alternative energy. And seriously… is this really a shock for anyone? Did anyone actually think oil was going to last our needs? [...]

OK this record might fall under guilty pleasures too but I fucking LOVE this album. Like I have said in the past I did my internship in college at Fat Wreck Chords and when I would tell music friends / people in college that I was doing it I would get one of two responses.. Holy Shit I love that label. Or they only thing worth anything on that label is Propagandhi (and sometimes, Snuff) It seems that anyone who hated pop punk at the time seemed to sort OK Propagandhi. So for some crazy [...]

I recently read an editorial column on a music Web site that expressed surprise at the fact that few political and protest songs were being made right now. It was a sentiment that I was wondering about myself. Considering the present circumstances of the world, one would think that artists would have more than enough to write about and against. And I'm not talking about the shallow "politics" of American Idiot . While the '60's saw numerous protests and demonstrations for civil rights and anti-war statements, there just doesn't seem to be enough protest coming from anywhere these days. [...]

T hanks to everyone that has given suggestions for this series. Much good stuff indeed. Anyhow, with this post we've reached the halfway point, so (obviously) there is plenty more pop punk junk coming your way. There will be Ramones influenced songs and gruff and angsty songs from the No Idea school of pop punk as well. Whatever your choice is, I'm hopeful that you'll find something to your liking. MP3 | Attention - Stay MP3 [...]

I can't believe I haven't made a Propagandhi (one of my favorite bands) post yet. Anyways, Less Talk, More Rock is my favorite album by these Canadians, and I'll try to follow their advice. So rock out. MP3: Propagandhi - ....And We Thought Nation States Were A Bad Idea Propagandhi - I Was A Pre-teen Mcarthyist Propagandhi - A People's History of The World Buy: Fat Wreck

[Photo: Reuters] If you don't care about soccer, there's not much here for you today, but here's a song that asks that perennial football question: Head? Chest? or Foot? - Propagandhi Now, for anyone still interested enough to stick around, here's some of my recent thoughts about the wide world of football. * * * After watching rather a lot of Premiership action this year, my newly adopted club is Reading FC. I watched them play quite a few times and could [...]

Where Have All the Rude Boys Gone? - Ted Leo and the Pharmacists Rudie Can't Fail - The Clash Let's talk Republican presidential candidates today. In particular I want to focus on how the Conventional Wisdom might just be wrong. You often hear that it's really a 3-horse race, with the "first-tier" candidates duking it out for the nomination. I don't think that's wrong. There's still a chance for a true conservative challenger to stake out a place to the Right of these guys, but I don't think the odds [...]

Much like Lucas did before, I have decided to wait an unreasonable amount of time before finishing this double-post. Also like Lucas, I have built up anticipation for what will end up being a disappointing finish. After being spun around in space in his modified TIE Fighter, Darth Vader got a little pissed. He needed some ways to relieve his stress. First he took out his anger on Chad , his younger brother. After that he tried his hand at conducting . Eventually though, he decided it would be best if he shifted his [...]
