Meanwhile, in non-hologram festival news... Last week Scion basically announced that this year's edition of their annual free metal festival, Scion Rock Fest, would take place at the Ritz Theatre in Tampa, Florida; now they've officially, 110% confirmed this, announcing that the show will take place on June 2. And, not at all shocking given the [...]
Just as we finished posting about the rumors for the date and location of this year's Scion Rock Fest yesterday, the Scion people officially confirmed it. Today, they announce the first round of bands, and the first word that comes to mind is diverse. I mean look at the bands in the headline... Sleep, Decapitated ...
Bands with 'Thee' in the title will always suckle up to an old Psychick Youther like me, will always be worth a listen (or the more important second listen) and this is no exception. (actually, most of the bands with 'Thee' in the title have been pretty awful; it's a pretty piss poor hit rate to be frank but...) Enchantruss has the kind (which makes a spin, perhaps, on medieval magick and hospital corners) drunk-doop-dub backing vocals which can't help get you at least curious and the [...]
The year's edition of the SXSW Film Festival is not quite as metal friendly as last year's version. Of course, it's hard to top a Pentagram documentary, a Fishbone documentary, Fubar II: Balls To The Wall, and Hesher. That doesn't mean, however, that this year's fest won't not have a few somethings that will appeal [...]

It's not always easy to know what to expect from a Psychic TV concert. The band has been many things over the course of its 30-odd year career. There was the early video art/noise collage phase in the '80s, then there was the acid house techno phase in the '90s. Earlier in this decade, more was heard about frontperson Genesis Breyer P-Orridge's interest in body modification than about the music of his longest-running band. Therefore, it comes as a pleasant surprise to learn that the latest incarnation of Psychic TV is one of the [...]
Your Oscar-night music agenda: ► Nineties indie-rock provocateurs Archers of Loaf are back, with a remastered, deluxe version of 19952s "Vee Vee" just out on Merge and similar editions of "All the Nation's Airports" and "White Trash Heroes" due later this year. Dipping into the Chapel Hill quartet's vaults has yielded (previously only VHS) videos such as the one for "Underachievers March and Fight Song," above. And you can get a download of the remastered "Harnessed in Slums" here . Archers of Loaf play the Troubadour tonight, along with indie-pop trio Hospitality [...]
Tweet vaso link So after seeing The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo , with its awkward-yet-awesome title sequence featuring Trent Reznor and Atticus Finch reworking Immigrant Song, I thought back to my youthful obsession with Industrial music. Reznor was an integral figure in this phase of my early teenhood due to the importance of Nine Inch Nails on my musical development. The fact that NIN is central to my musical sensibility is not something that I readily admit. Deny it all I might, Industrial music [...]

words by Lauren Jackson , photos by Greg Cristman Psychic TV @ Europa Psychic TV assembled something of a hodgepodge of people sporting vampire fangs, black clothing and, of course, a fair share of pale, sad faces at Europa on December 15th (one of three December PTV shows. The other two were in Chicago and Austin ). An attendee with no previous knowledge of their legacy might [...]
![[Listen] Psychic TV: "Mother Sky"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3951689_lg.jpg)
thegoldenfilter : happy holidays! as you can see, we've changed our name to "She and Him" xo tgf Stream: The Golden Filter - "White Nights" On this eve of Christmas, let's not forget when The Golden Filter decided to cover the epic Psychic TV song from yesteryear, "White Nights". Cult leader Jim Jones never sounded so sweet than with the delivery of Penelope from The Golden Filter. Godspeed!

The madcap laughed. But when did the laughter find no escape? The old parable about burning out before fading away found Syd Barrett with a foot in both camps. The legend lived on, ever brighter; but the man himself diminished. What could have been going through his mind? Bitterness at being pushed out of one of the biggest bands in the world? Or relief at becoming only a footnote? We're all on thin ice, indeed. Nobody knows where you are, How near or how far. [...]

Le Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, buffet de grands noms mais aussi de trouvailles inusitées, nous permet année après année de découvrir de véritables merveilles. En octobre dernier, l'une de ces pépites se nommait The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye .

nihiti (purposefully lowercase) is a NYC psych-folk duo, and their cover of "The Orchids" by art rock vanguards Psychic TV is my pick for track of the week. The original version is so lo-fi it's barely audible, but the cover double tracks the vocal, which almost sounds triple tracked with added echo, to make sure the listener can understand each and every beautiful lyric. "And in the morning and the night, I fall in love with the light." The cello on top with violin underneath adds even more sweetness to an already tender song. Fans of everything from Califone to [...]

We can't wait for you to hear this Dinowalrus cover of Psychic TV 's tribute to Brian Jones (of Rolling Stones fame). Given Dinowalrus ' recent move away from krauty experimentalism and toward things baggy, could a Dinowalrus remix of Tekno Acid Beat be on the horizon? Listen.
