Haven't caught much of the Halloween spirit, this year - perhaps due to the recent stretch of warm weather, or Glee 's attempt to turn Rocky Horror into an afterschool special, or because the whole "witch house" thing makes the world seem neither fun nor spooky, or because Al Qaeda's out there trying to make our fax machines go splody. Some combination of all that. Effect being that I haven't been scouring comps for weird East European surf and psychobilly material to grind into the Annual Awesome Halloween Mix TM. BUT! [...]

Ahhhhhhhhh! Big scary kitchen sink! Time once again for one of my internationally, supernaturally lauded Halloween mixes. The past couple years I've scoured the world-wide far-and for the best - well, the readily available and modestly acceptable - surf and psychobilly horror-themed tracks. Dragon*Con 2008's tenth band to be featured this month on You Sound Like A Robot is Pyscho Charger . Pyscho Charger is a band which combines the sounds of psychobilly, industrial, and surf music in order to fuel the horror themed tunes that they've become known for. The New York City based band's blood-soaked live shows have spanned across the states and have recently made their European debut by headlining the "Bring Out Your Dead" music festival in London, England along with a string of shows throughout the United Kingdom. This video, [...]

It's Halloween! I'm going out as someone who makes fun of people who dress up as Amy Winehouse . What are you going out as? Rhetorical. I don't care. The important thing is that, for one night only, unhip shit like surfa-gotha-rockabilly and b-movie dialogue turns cool. It's holiday magic, and I mean to honor it with a second annual low-watt low-bit Locobilly Geekout de Internationale. Spain, Denmark, Italy, The Czech Republic and Secaucus are represented below; half the fun's trying to figure out what the guy from [...]
