by kevin diamond Music is a balm. Or is it a bomb? Does it sooth your soul or explode your senses? Perhaps both? We have shows for those of both persuasions in this week's Live Guide, which this week is brought to you by Matmos, who are playing the Kitchen on the 10th and 11th with the Princeton Laptop Orchestra and So Percussion. Go ahead and indulge. Heck, overindulge. The other great thing about music is it ain't got no calories. [...]
by kevin diamond Death By Audio 's dilapidated home-room style is pretty key. Unpretentious and inviting, in that "there's water leaking out of the bathroom, but who cares cause you can smoke inside" kind of way. It was a pretty perfect atmosphere to watch the seldom-seen Iran, a band i'd liken to a post-ironic Pavement for it's ramshackle performance coupled with semi-serious lyrical delivery. Front man Aaron Aites summed it up best, after the plowed through their first song. "We don't normally do this," he said, lighting a smoke, "But [...]
Around the internet, what is new around the blogs, top news, and the like...more or less. ~~ HearYa had a nice post on what to look forward to in 2009, and The Deep Dark Woods right after it! Yours Truly is making a splash - well, with my friend E over at das klienicum at least...but seriously check out the Theodore interview here , my new favourite 'slow as molasses' (mostly) Americana act. Kirkeby Kritikk has some ancient [...]

L'album You Can Burn A Corpse But You Can't Kill A Ghost est en effet l'enregistrement d'un concert qui a eu lieu à l'hiver 2006, un jour de neige, en première partie de Laura Veirs, dans une vieille chapelle médiévale à Rouen, non loin de l'endroit [...]

I am not in the best of moods...I just finished listening to some terrible, terrible music; listening to such things usually influences my over all well being. But it is alright because then I heard the music of Pure Horsehair (not the most appealing band name in the world but you get over it) and I began to forget all the other malarkey. Pure Horsehair reminded me that some of the best music is found where you least expect it to be. I have a confession...I tend to stray away from the Country/Folk isle, which is really something [...]
