Dreamy duo Purity Ring recently traveled to Vancouver, B.C. and, sure enough, they ran into Nardwuar the Human Serviette. What ensued was a nearly 12-minute interview that touches on their love for the Notorious B.I.G., their hometown of Edmonton and all the bands from there, some hilarious vinyl artwork, and so much more. XXL just put out a mixtape featuring new material from the artists on their Freshman Class of ‘13 list. The one track of note is Angel Haze spitting bars on a mean Purity Ring “Lofticries” sample. The ethereal synths now feel grimacing.
One of Purity Ring 's earliest tracks "Lofticries" still sounds baller two years later, bumped up to 14 and shaking the floor with its bass, so it makes sense for it to be remixed and sampled the internet over. Purity Ring's "Lofticries" has still got legs, so we're not surprised that Angel Haze chose to use the track's unreal instrumental (and keep its title) for one of her two songs on XXL Magazine's annual Freshman Class mixtape. Angel's verbose, brutal lyrical brags surprisingly work well over those delicate synths (and added production by HiriiThe$kyGod ) - she sounds even more extraterrestrial than usual. Check it out.
